There are actually dozens of classification systems like the one I speak of. The only 'problem' is none of them are the same - that is to say there really isn't a standard. Basically, there are several published articles relating the difficulty of learning language developed by several institutes that range from a 3 to 5 category/class system. The FSI of the US Dept. of State uses a 3 Category system for the difficulty of learning languages for a person who has English as their primary. The US military uses a four category system. Etcetra etcetra.
BTW, I must admit to laughing a little bit at your response... your belief of whether or not something exists is limited to whether or not you can find it by a quick internet search? I assure you there are many things I could talk about work related that have no articles you will ever find on the 'net. I suppose the classifiers would be most happy to know that the populace now only believes what it can find on the 'net to be true.
