technically you can play on your iphone if you have logmein downloaded and installed but ofcourse its way to laggy to do anything worth while. I was able to run around whitegate for a bit till too many characters started loading and it crashed framerate was terrible also but i didnt expect anything good, just wanted to try it..

Also that requires that you have the game turned on on your PC/laptop in order for it to work so it isnt really "ffxi for iphone"

I'd like to see a free one too, but I understand the $99 fee has to come from somewhere.

If it ends up being a big deal, I recommend after you recoup the 99 bucks from developer registration, and maybe 100 or 200 for your work, lower the price to 0.99.

But 1.99 is probably a steal, if it works well. I'll download in a bit and take a look.

You dont need to be a user to create apps for the platform. Android actually provides everything you need to develop the apps for free, including an emulator.

oh, and a slight problem with the setting buffs (specifically food) section, sometimes it just doesnt load, then crashes shortly after.. :/ mines jailbroken so idk if that effects it... (i still paid for the app dw lol)

I'll look into the android SDK, but there are 2 major hurdles for me(with any other platform).

1. While i'm sure there's a simulator to run the app in, w/o actual hardware to run it on... it becomes incredibly hard to check for bugs reliably.

2. Requires a complete rewrite of the app, code-base rewrite from obj-c to java, c, whatever... also interfaces will be completely different. Makes a "simple port" much more than just simple.


I will look into the android platform tho... I've been looking for an excuse to see what I can do w/that anyway.

As all the data belong to SE, and they seem to be cool with compiling it on web sites etc., so that's a non-issue. (Anyway, it would be a copyright issue.)

FFXIgear could only get aerated if he used their database and code without their permission. As the iPhone app appears to be new code, I don't think there's an issue there either.

I do think it's an issue that there is a lot of carping about what seems to be a fair bit of effort and a nice app for the FFXI community, when praise and thanks are earned and deserved.

Feels more like a beta or alpha than a finished product to be sold to people...

Just from messing with it for a few minutes discovered some missing things...
-No Madrigal
-No Job traits for BLU
-Missing foods

Then going into bugs...
-The MND and INT stats showed up mislabeled
-Due to last thing, INT etude adds to mind and vice-versa
-Attack value was off, HP value was off
-Half the time I click to add a buff and it doesn't work
-Excepted damage is WAY off

Here's an example of a few of the previous things I noticed. No, my attack value isn't off because of merits. I dropped the merits and the attack dropped to 312.

Edit: Homam Feet give 50HP in the program. Torque/Supp give no attack.

messing around, i found...

1. Vit Etudes add to AGI, and Agi add to VIT,
2. Need more choices on augments from mini-expansion rewards
3. Won't Let you clear buffs properly from JA/songs/rolls
4. Guns not showing up for Rangers under markmanship (not sure if this is global, or just with rng)

i do argee with the previous poster. this is more like a alpha or beta, not yet meant to be sold. having purchased it, i am wondering...

if the few who have comment on this, and the errors that are present, in the short time period that you originally posted its release, how much testing was done?

I also experienced this issue when trying to select guns for Corsair.

yeah I had accidentally left out guns... if you Update the App Data (yes the very long process of updating... it will eventually finish) you will then be able to select your guns.

Does the sync also takes a while to happen? I plugged in my iPhone to charge the battery and it's taking quite a wihle to sync it with the PC. I purchased this app from my iPhone

Fact: Marduk Body atm is giving *3 instead of *.03, thus putting it on would (according to the program) make my HP and MP jump from 1000 to 3000 :3

Like the program though, hoping 1.1 and 1.2 fix the bugs mentioned!
