Of course. Why would anyone want to develop something for a tool they personally liked? You mean they're not in it strictly to receive critical acclaim on a message board? That is just fucking nonsense.
He's already said he may fiddle with other releases someday, but that this is his priority, because it's what he wants to use. He's not here to serve every last whiny asshole's whims. Hell, if I'd programmed that shit, I'd specifically not release a version on another platform, because -- believe it or not, guys -- nobody likes being nagged and mocked. Really, they don't. It's not exactly conducive to productivity. I promise you I'm not shitting you.
Please, you're honestly going to sit here and tell me he didn't make a thread about it to get a thumbs up or two? Sure, he's getting some use out of it, but he made a thread so he could A) turn a minor profit and B) get a bunch of thank you's
The fact of the matter is, he's spending a shit load of time on something that is still only going to appeal to a fraction of the community. He could of made it in web format by now, and we all know it.
We did have this in web form a few months back, but the work that went into FFXIGear appears to have been lost to the dark depths of the internet.
So for those of us that missed the initial app release is there anyway to get our hands on the first app?
And just out of curiosity have you considered posting the app at rock or cydia before going to the main store.
Perhaps they would allow you more leeway.
Perhaps he's afraid that even posting it on cydia or rock, he could still get into legal trouble. But if OP isn't, afraid, then by all means he should do that. I imagine cydia and rock have a pay2download thing right? I'd know by now but I'm having jailbreaking troubles (can't seem to install backgrounder without it bricking and forcing me to restore).
hes in it for the money and that is fine let the guy do what he wants. The fact that he is making money however is one of the main reasons he is having such a hard time with SE.
If you are in it for the money a PC port seems like a crappy idea as it be easy to then make a free one >.> just saying.
Just an FYI, betas of the new version have just gone out to the testers. All Copyrighted and Trademarked material has been removed.
I'm still accepting more beta testers, if you're interested please PM me here.
I'll let you all know when i submit to the iTunes Store again.
android or blackberry please
Quick update, FFGear is now back on the iTunes store.
You'll notice that the gear icons have been replaced with generic versions. If you would like to replace these, I have created a tool that will allow you to compile an archive with custom gear/food icons which you can ftp into the FFGear app.
Find more info on this at: http://www.actionsreaction.com/ffxi-gear-simulator/
If you have any questions or problems, please let me know.
Enjoy!!!

there ya go
Bought it today to try it out, pretty disappointed. :/
Going from one slot to another, the lists are combined which sometimes leaves out most of the second option. i.e. Hit legs slot, most showed up, then clicked on feet, and the two lists were available combined, but most of the feet were missing.
Within 5 minutes it auto-closed itself 5 times. Very laggy.
/regret
edit: No Hellfire +1 either, there goes that fun. :/
how i get all the icons working?
idk what all this update thing is. if anything is worst than b4
The version that is up today has no icons and still says COR cannot use Marksmanship... at all...
and gear from the Nov update does not appear to be in the database yet ( ie. Lava's/Kusha's Rings, Headlong Belt )
really good idea though, just needs a little more work.
