I'm pretty sure he meant Kor's post
That skull EVA Spartan totally has Commando Pro equipped
For such a stupid little show, it does garner a lot of interest. Maybe the appeal is "so bad it is good?"
Anyway, I didn't watch, so I must ask: did they put Uncharted 2 and Assassin's Creed II in the same genre? Really?
oh god brp, fuck the hell off with your genrebitching. I guess you can't compare them because one is sandbox+missions while the other has a linear level design!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wah wah wah
raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaage
I imagine all the problems stem from one larger problem: People on tv do not know what they are talking about. Question is how off are they? They might not be able to pick out a best game(at least not one the internet will approve of), but can they even make the categories?
Shouldn't they have had some better artists, or more relevant I should say?
Like MC Chris or Megaran or something along those lines, I've only caught bits and pieces but the pieces I've caught have had stupid clearly non-gamer people, or stupid guidos
BRP never allows two similar games to be in the same genre, but then if he had his way, he'd subsequently be complaining about how there's too many genres.
You guys see what he's doing, don't you?
Is it trolling? It's trolling isn't it?
Partially.
I know all your secrets.
What is usually the case is that people create more genres(actually subgenres, but lets just call them genres) by grouping dissimilar games together. This usually justified by an aesthetic theme or one single shared characteristic(which is rarely essential even). All the laughable genres are examples of that: Computer RPGs, "Action Adventure", Survival Horror, Party, etc. Genres like RTS, 3D Platformer, Third Person Shooter, etc do not go away because of this, they just get split up and comparison between games is distorted. This is likely convenient for a group like Spike TV because it gives them more room to make shit up for their criticisms/criteria.
I wouldn't complain about there being too many genres. I only complain when a bullshit genre appears. I couldn't actually point out every subgenre ever in one sitting and that fact doesn't bother me.
Of course, messy categorizing isn't even the biggest mistake, it is basically a symptom. It is people not understanding the essence of each of these games. If Spike TV understood that they would realize that they compared Assassin Creed II and Uncharted 2 like Apples and Oranges and did so under the banner of "Vegetables of the year!" With a complete lack of analysis to go along with it. Award shows rock.
Ah, I love how a simple "/facepalm" post can turn into something more at a sight of a beckwin. Thank you for the soapbox.
WHOA, Wait a minute ACII and Uncharted 2 aren't games?@!@!? Fuck!
