From what I've gathered "Christmas no.1" is like a status symbol for pop songs and musicians in the UK. You are not truly big in the world of entertainment until you have it in your list of achievements- there's no other way to really describe it and for the last few years it's always been the X Factor winner's song. I can understand the frustration that some music fans have about it but uh yeah... they could had picked a better song to try beat the system.

Those of you that are not in the UK wouldn't be aware of the fact that Simon Cowel (X factor (american idol)) dominates the top 10 this time every year with their same old pop songs... 9/10 songs in the top 10 have some connectivity with X factor.

Tis why I've spent 79p on RATM even though I already have it ;p

You have to be shitting me. Bob the builder won Christmas #1 but Led Zeppelin, The Who or the Stones never won it? Pink Floyd won it once but not for their greatest work (I love the Wall but, Dark Side of the Moon > The Wall).

I don't know if I agree with Zach in what was being said, I think what Tom said fits my beliefs a little more accurately.

I know far too many people who are fed up with the crappy pop songs that just keep getting pumped out on a daily basis. I'm constantly digging these days for good acts and almost every time I find something special my friends jump on it immediately.
