    Global Agenda

I have been waiting to make this thread since the early pre-beta last year started but waited until it was able to be up for pre-order.

    Global Agenda:

    RELEASE DATE:
    February 1st, 2010.

    STORY
Global Agenda mixes a science-fiction setting with a secret agent backdrop, leading the developers to refer to the game genre as spy-fi.[3]

The game is set on 22nd-century Earth in the wake of severe global disaster.[4] A government called the Commonwealth tyrannically rules Earth. Earth's population is under one billion people and suffers from a shortage of habitable land. Advanced technology allows limited regions of Earth to be environmentally cleansed and habitable. As land becomes available there is intense competition to colonize the area and control that region's technology. This competition sets the stage for much of the game's campaign action.[5]

The developer has released two pieces of fiction to establish the back-story: "The Utopian"[6] and "The Cure for Life".[7]

The game will primarily feature a third-person camera view, although some weapons allow scoping in a first-person view using a mouse action. Characters will have jetpacks, as well as various weapon types, including melee.[8]

The Global Agenda beta servers are available for play only during specific play test windows, and those tests may be limited to only certain game features. Registered beta participants will receive specific test instructions prior to each Closed Beta test event, as the events are announced.

In general, during January, we expect the servers to be up each day most days in January, except for Wednesdays, starting on January 7 and continuing through January 26. On January 29 through 31, there will be a special Name Reserve and Character Creation event (details to be announced later).

In order to concentrate testing, the servers are currently expected to be live only from 1 PM to 1 AM US Eastern Time daily (10 AM to 10 PM Pacific, 6 PM to 6 AM GMT). The actual hours of operation may change as we progress through testing.

The following chart shows the general expected current server availability for January, 2010:

Anyone else going to play? You have to pre-order it either on amazon or steam to join the January beta. Remember that this game is technically Free to play BUT you won't be "gimped" out of the experience if you decide to pay and go with the usual mmo features.

Just like with every mmo at launch everyone will get a free 30day sub of the optional content to enjoy.

Enjoyed PlanetSide's closed beta in 2003 and then found no-one played the retail game, but always interested by the idea of a MMOFPS.

Wait ... no vehicles? >_> Ehh.

Vehicles is in AvA(Alliance vs Alliance) they are also thinking of adding some racing thing to do in Dome City while you wait for queues.

    Rig

    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs)
    Memory: 3326MB RAM
    Hard Drive: 746 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
Runs smooth on here(expect for some small lag at the start of a pvp match).

If I knew how to stream I would do it for anyone interested in the game. 30 is the max level in beta and I stopped @20 on Recon to try the other classes out. I currently have Medic at level 10 so I'll post more info on that tomorrow.

In the game's current state I would give it a 7/10 but the devs actually listen to the community so 9/10 when the new content comes within those 6 months(will come each monthish not in 6 months).

    /rant
Most people are complaining about "no open world" but they mentioned there would be no open world in the game. The devs on the forums already said in the current code there cannot be a open world.
    /rant

Unless your not familiar with shooters I would do the tutorial to get used to it. You'll stop @lv5 by the end of the tutorial or of you skip it(recommend) you can get to dome city and put your stuff in the slots and start fighting in pvp or pve.

Every 2 levels, after level 5, you get a skill point and inbetween a device or weapon unlock.

Yeah I'm enjoying it right now.

The game feels more like it should be something created like TF2 is. The game is a teamwork game, more so than TF2 because all you do is zerg in it, so you do need to work together.

I never got a chance to try out AvA during the beta but your basically fighting over territory to control for your agency/alliance.

The game is kind of balanced out regardless of how unbalanced a weapon may look. A recon with a sniper can 2hot a person if he specced into it correctly.

    Skill tree setup
    http://serv.hexagenda.com/skills/

I played Recon during the beta but going to main as a Assault this time.

Because this is Hi Rez's first game the servers have been up and down a lot but it's needed to fix things and the stability.

what do you think of the whole agency system? I read they can build their own factories and control their own territories and stuff. That seems to interest me the most at this point. and are there a lot of people playing?

I can't seem to find out what the "Absorbs" and "Buffs" stats mean. I ended up with most absorbs and buffs as recon one game and have been baffled since.

Buffs is the boost skill with "x Rallies your Team!" and absorbs is how much damage you received

I don't believe that to be true now. I had 17744 absorbed one game with 1 death. Was like 3x more than anyone else. I did have a lot of self healing, but some other guy had 15 deaths and 3668 absorbed, which is mathematically impossible since people have 2210 health pools.

    I just did it again

    http://www.carameldream.net/GAscorescreen.jpg

I hope it's not a sucky stat or that would be embarrassing!
edit: Oh! a friend just told me that absorbed means how much damage you took per death, not overall :D that clears things up.
