Today, Warner Bros. Interactive published a press release telling gamers that they’ll be able to play the upcoming Batman: Arkham City in 3D no matter what kind of HDTV they have. According to the release, the game will be capable of 3D play for 3DTVs that make use of active shutter glasses. In addition to those stereoscopic capabilities, the game will also be capable of anaglyphic 3D (the more traditional, blue/red 3D we all remember from the Flintstones comics of our youth), provided gamers wear the special glasses that will be made available with the game.

Kind of makes me wish there were a Nintendo 3DS port of the game in the works right about now…I don’t have a 3DTV, and there’s no fucking way I’m gonna sit there wearing 3D Bat-glasses. But it’s definitely cool that they’ve gone the extra mile to make 3D available for folks who aren’t as self-conscious as myself.

Batman: Arkham City supports Games for Windows Live

For Batman, capturing criminals and maintaining safe, clean streets in Gotham is its own reward. For those of us lacking giant inheritances and cavernous basements, the incentive to do good just for the sake of being good isn't really enough. We need something we can hold; something we can point to and say, "I did that, here's my proof."

Achievements! It was just our roundabout way of saying Batman: Arkham City will support Games for Windows Live on PC, according to a Warner Bros. rep speaking to VG 247 today. We assume, just like its predecessor, the game will also be sold through Steam, though there has yet to be a games page created for it. We've contacted Warner Bros. for clarification. Achievements and DRM for Arkham City will be handled by Microsoft's platform.

May or may not be able to be answered here. With the GPU my wife just bought me it came with a free copy Arkham City to be redeemed when it comes out. I'm pretty sure it's a disc based version of the game. Can those somehow be used in conjunction with Steam? I was hoping it would just be a redeemable code that I could throw into Steam, but I'm fairly certain it's a disc based version.

When I got dirt3 with my AMD card, it was a steam key. If its a non-steam key it won't work with steam afaik. You can always add the game to your steam library to get overlay access in game but you won't earn steam achievements.

New Batman: Arkham City villain found in Qore

Batman: Arkham City's character roster is starting to get a little crowded! The new episode of Qore, added to PSN last night, offers a look at yet another villain that will stalk the locked-down streets of Gotham.

YouTube user MrKQGaming captured the relevant segment of Qore, which you'll have to watch closely to catch the new villain (amongst all those other villains). We've got a screencap after the break, just for those of you daring enough to see the villain's identity before the game launches later this month.



It's Jervis Tetch, the Mad Hatter, looking ... rather underdressed. Is that a V-neck? Gotham is a big city, of course, so there's still room for even more characters -- like Poison Ivy, making a return appearance. Personally, we'd like to see a "gritty" version of Bat-Mite.
