That was summerfest, when it was actually summerfest and not the sunbreeze festival.

I remember they brought it back one year and wasn't nearly as epic since being 75 and been to all those places already.

Really have high hopes for this game, can't wait to get in there.

I'd have to say I'd be excited to play, but I would expect anything. I think as soon as you expect anything, you set yourself up to be disappointed before you even play.

Would be funny if they just tossed the first few applications from when there was no "I don't run a fan site" option, since it's such an insignificant few apps compared to all the ones they'll end up with. Or simply exclude anyone who runs a fan site from entering beta, including those who don't but said they did because they had no choice.

open beta should be as stable as it can be. Waiting till that point is just not going to happen. Have a large portion of the players thinking *hay I might be ok playing this* and then seeing they cant will piss people off. Better to test it early, find out and fix it before open beta. Open beta should be a final test not a "lets hope it works"

FFXI went to shit in January. It just got a little worse after XIV was announced officially.

FFXI went to shit after SE stopped making proper expansions, adding new jobs and having exciting fanfests. Right now I think I'd pay a full expansion price ($30 or w/e) just for them to add another job. Not that the game really needs it, would just be nice to see something new and that the game is still going.

High chance the job wouldn't be used in any serious situation and would still be eclipsed by the playerbase's fanaticism for WAR or SAM or whatever.

The game needs a complete overhaul of the underlying system mechanics which it won't get sadly. Low drop rates, excessive forced grouping, huge amount of grinding, HNM system -- too much to fix really.

I saw this on the Japanese version:

You can not apply both of Windows and PS3’s beta test. One Square Enix account allows you to apply beta test just once.

But on the NA application form, you could select both PS3 and PC, no? And I don't remember it saying you could only choose one or the other.

They are only recruiting for a windows beta, its on the first page of the beta registration. PS3 in NA may/will come later. JP got the PS3 beta app because of the campaign code and the fact that PS3 is rampant over there.
