My theory is the stipulation about signing up multiple times was added to the language of the application before they decided a SE Member Account would be necessary to sign up and they just left it in.

It was pretty much the same with the XI's BETA. No multi-applications.

Heck, it even disqualified email addresses like gmail, hotmail, etc.

I beta tested FFXI and have always used a hotmail account. Are you suggesting SE chagned their policy for FFXIV? I didnt see any information indicating this.

I see nothing wrong with what I'm doing my intention is to get into the beta only, but why not use the extra codes when i get them? only a stupid person would throw free money away.

FYI, you're not 100% guaranteed a spot with 21 applications. Assuming that they don't ban all of your apps, you just have 21x higher chance of getting in. That does not equal a guaranteed spot.

ffs people, if I remember correctly all they are using is a generic php script for the form. I used to use these at my old job; it basically throws all the completed entries into a notepad file. Some lackey will DL all the data, probably delimit it in Excel, eliminate all of the people who do not meet their "criteria" (i.e. don't have compute specs high enough to run the game) and duplicate/bogus entries. Then they will just randomly pick and e-mail people from the Excel file using another script.

That's all there is to it - SE doesn't play their employees enough nor do they have enough of them to sit around and develop conspiracy theories on how to screw people out of invites to the beta because they don't like their e-mail addressed or they registered from an IP address which is too similar to their neighbors.

I'm willing to bet the application form inputs the data in to a database, and then they have a separate script which removes duplicated entires, and then sorts out "undesired" applicants. After this they have a separate script which picks people depending on various criteria, such as very low specs, very high specs, etc. according to a predetermined pattern and number, and generate beta keys and automatically send them out to the applicant's email address.

Really, why would they hire someone to do it when you can write a script to do the same thing in shorter time, more effectively, and require less pay?
