By the way... you'll have no proof of ever being in the beta, even if you get in. Wanna know why? I'll let you in on a little secret...You can't post screen shots/proof from beta. You'll get banned. Even if you get in, you'll have nothing to show for it, and we'll all probably assume you're lying anyhow.

Actually NDA even says you can't share with anyone that you got in for the beta (which is LOLish btw) so he can be our guest if he wants to brag and risk anything

About not being able to post screenshots or anything because of that retarded agreement you agree to, every beta says you're not allowed to post screens or w/e but wanna know what everyone does anyway? Posts screens and shit.

Perhaps my understanding of this is off, but FFXI is/was my only MMO so yeah...
Anyway, won't they later have an open beta where you know, anyone can join, and you can play about whenever and not have to test the specific stuff they want and (theoretically) the beta will have improved from the closed stage?

If so, why bother trying so hard to get into closed beta? I applied once like just about everyone else, the only reason I want to beta the game is to see how it plays before deciding if I want to buy it. Closed beta would be a cool thing to say that I got to do it, but if not, there's open beta later.

Well those of us that actually want to BETA TEST (and not just play early) want to be able to offer input/suggestions while its in the early development stages where open beta tends to be at the very end of the development phase unless the game will never get released.

Closed beta is one of those things where you as a beta tester have the most influence over the progression as well. If, say, an ability is unbalanced, mobs are too hard/easy, spelling/grammatical errors. As during the beta phase, they work hard to fix all bugs and balance issues, unlike when the game is released. Then it can take months to fix them.

just because it says that does not mean people are going to follow it. Did you know downloading MP3's and movies is not OK?

I dunno how it is with S-E (probably they fail even at this) but other companies I had some experiences with it very pretty strict about it. And I don't mean that only because you posted it they will be able to find you - people are jealous or whatever else they might feel(sense of justice?) and they report others that break NDA so your only choice is to post it as anonymously as possible if you even still want to risk.

I run off like 10 PCs, if I got in I would post the day I got in with the email from one of my other PCs(from school) there would be little to no way for them to link it to me outside them saying "shit, that guy said something on a forum, his IP is not the same oh well."

what could they do? call BG and ask them for all my past IPs? lol

Or just simply get a non-FF going friend to make a BG account and post the SS for you.

The possibilities are almost endless!

If they wanted to. NDAs tend to be a legal agreement just very rarely do companies pursue offenders.

Which all is doing it as anonymously as possible as I said. But you won't believe the number of people that don't think at all and post screenshots to brag, so they "can't do it from an alt" or even if post anonymously don't bother erasing their info from the screenshots which makes them easy to find.

You won't be playing. You'll be carrying out specific tests that you will be tasked with. SE will know who has what tasks. If they see you blabbing about tests A-1, D-9, and F-12, they can pretty quickly narrow it down to a small group of testers. One more test (known in certain circles as a barium meal), and you're history.

one thing i have noticed with SE is how tight their security is. when was the last time you heard about a game leak or anything with them, or even a rumor?

FFXIV was in production for YEARS and we didn't know about it outside of what SE let known as "Rapture".

If SE is as tight about beta security as they are with their business model, we might not know about beta start until they announce the OB.
