The "how excited are you" question is about the series, not FFXIV. You could not be a fan of the series, but just be applying to FFXIV beta because it's an MMO and you like MMOs. Or you like FFXI and that was your first Final Fantasy exposure.

So people who have played all the Final Fantasies might put 80-100, and people who haven't played many of the other games (or don't care much) may put 0-20.

By the way, we've translated the Japanese FFXIV newsletter they just sent out.

To make a better Final Fantasy XIV, we're recruiting beta testers to check for bugs and balance the play system before open service starts, so lend us a hand!

The first phase of the beta test will only include a few players at short intervals. We will gradually increase the number of players and continue testing up until open service begins.

We will choose players from the lottery pool each time we increase the number of players and will contact each player when they are chosen. (Each player that is chosen will be allowed to play the beta test until testing is complete. We will explain more about the flow of the tests in another report.)

Previous MMORPG experience is unnecessary. Please help us make this a better game. We’re awaiting your application!

It's very slow at loading the pages, just give it time. It failed to submit the first time I sent and I had to retry.

Really didn't like that "do you run a fansite..." question and did what some other people were doing for an answer. I answered 85 for the "how excited about FF series" since I don't care too much about the others.

That maintenance page is random just keep hitting f5 it worked for me after a few tries.

You can not do that as a beta tester. even more so if you want to beta test other games. Ya people do but you risk losing your account because of the ToS. Get hit with giving info out and your SE account could get locked out, and not let you even play FF14.

way I see it the start with have few people leading up to the full open beta where you just need a SE account.

or maybe they will let you *beta test* parts of the game and then move onto a new group of players. only time will tell. so what a month or so till it fully starts?

if you are a linkshell leader just use your forums as a *fan sight* what I did. It is based on the game and all it takes to really be deemed one is a news area that most have anyways lol. also you do not have to lie then!

Well, just signed up myself about 30 minutes ago. The site is very laggy so keep retrying. You'll know once the page starts to change that you got through. It reminds me of the Treasures of Aht Urghan registration fiasco we had. Camping the Submit button. You will get a confirmation page once the server has received the information from the first submit where you fill in information. Once you get to that page just hit submit again. If you get a timeout on the page you fill out when hitting submit just hit back button and Resend; it'll reload the page with all the information you already entered. Just submit again and repeat until confirmation.

I chose 101 for the anticipation of FFXIV, my desktop only uses a Single Processor Pentium 4 3.0 GHz so I chose the other option. I assume they will definitely pick a lot of low end spectrum beta testers to get specific feedback. For the 3 options that I am looking forward to: Storyline, Quests, and Player Interaction. If it weren't for all 3 of those especially grouping and linkshells; I wouldn't of ever played FFXI. And Quests are great cause I'm an adventurer and a completionist. I think a lot of people fall into that category too if you have beaten Final Fantasy 7 or another one at minimum 10 times.

Good luck to everyone else. And yeah lolNDA. They damn know that this stuff is going to leak out all over the internet once someone logs in. And for the fan site thing I just chose the last option. It basically means 'No'. Oh and it is my Birthday Today (December 16th). This is like the best birthday present ever, even more so if I get accepted to beta test.

I don't understand why people are sucking SE's cock to get in the beta. I told them FFXI was lame and that I hated how it was handled. I gave 40% to the "interest" question.

I bet it will give me a better chance than giving the same answer as everyone, and I don't feel dirty for lying.
