How do I use gamesaves on PS3?

I'm looking at using a game save from gamefaqs, it's a zip.

To use it, it looks like:

use a flashdrive create a folder called PS3 and in it depending on whether its a ps3 save or ps1 create a folder called SAVEDATA for ps3 save or create a folder called EXPORT and in it PSV for ps1 data

is that correct?

'eh, I just made life easier by copying any arbitrary PSX/PS2 game save file onto a USB stick, then dump the gamesave from my PC I want in the same folder the PS3 created on it, then pop the stick back into the PS3, and copy it over to the virtual memory card I use for gaming with.

I haven't played this game in years, and never finished it, only got up to around the leviathan fight. I really want to use a save file cause I remember never really being able to upgrade weapons, like at all, in that playthrough. Think the save file I'm looking for is just "start the game with X gil". Don't want any level 100's or max everything from the start... unless that is actually fun lol which it could be. I read that some people prefer starting off with everything if they already did a playthrough previously.

Might buy this over break and see how far I can boost Squall before you take the first SeeD exam where you meet the machine/Zell/Yuffie. I think you can get Lionheart? Or is the one right before that? It's been too long since I played, I just know with the right card playing you can most of the best/second to best weapons right after you gain access to Ifrit.

You can't do it until nearly the end of disc one from what I remember, but you can easily get the lionheart (aye, the best sword) for Squall before you change discs. Mostly card playing and GF-Card refine though. (Not a bad thing at all really. :D )

Hmm having a save like that would be way better than max money. Anyone know where i can get a gamesave aside from gamefaqs that will run on
ps3? I never xferred a gamesave before so I know nothing about

I can make one since I've almost maxed all the cards atm. You don't want to get a save with high levels, that would be a waste since they scale with you. Just get all the best cards and refine them for Tornado and ga magic and you will be a beast.

This reminds me of FFX where Kimahri fights another one of his race that is scaled to Kim's stats...I'd forgotten about it on the 3rd or 4th try and starting with a maxed character :X

Finally, I can send corwen's FF8 discs back now. My disc 2 or 3 would freeze when you fight on Balamb garden against the troops that attack. I'd fly out the emergency door, and when it went to load part of that fight, it would freeze

My main concern is either weapons, money for weapons, and mayyyybe gf/magics.

I'm really lazy and having played through a few times before, but only up to a certain point, I don't want to go through all the bullshit.

And like I said, I don't think I really did too well on weapons on my last few attempts at the game, so starting with them or at least making them easier to get would be a huge plus. I found a gamesave with max money, and in reality, thats probably all I need.

I'm at work posting from iPhone, the save is directly on gamefaqs under ff8 saves in the ps3 virtual memory card list. There is only 3 saves in that list and it's the third.

Of all FF games this one has the least problems. You can actually do a glitch at the start and get max money.

When is Vagrant Story getting here??? I've been waiting like its Christmas again.

Vagrant Story is on the PSN for EU now, but I'm debating whether to get it or not. When it first came out I remember finding it slow and extremely difficult. On the other hand maybe I'd appreciate it more today. I hear the story is pretty good. =)

Hopefully FFVIII is out this Friday on PSN! ^^

Vagrant Story is awesome, but the gameplay is more like a job than a game. If you enjoy things like stat-maxing, grinding, fusing items, etc. then you will love it. But unlike a lot of similar games, mastering the complicated weapon/stat system is absolutely necessary to progress, you really can't half-ass it. You'll quickly (and I mean within the first few hours) run into normal enemies you're doing 0 damage to without upgrading your weapons and grinding the right attributes onto them.

On the other hand, story and atmosphere are top-notch, Yasumi Matsuno at his finest. And considering how good even his lesser work is, that's quite the compliment.

I honestly loved everything about VS other than Ashley's fucking hair. I think I had 5-6 clears on my file, and had the armor that can only be made by beating it several times, with badass weapons for each enemy type.

Oh, and the only FF game worse than FF8 was FFX2.

I thought about doing that someday with Vagrant Story, but I came to the conclusion that I'd have to get laid off or something first. shit would take me a year if I wanted to have a life and a job while doing it. it would be worth it though.
