First time I played it I loved Rinoa for her invincibility move.

Any useful glitches or tips? Haven't played it in years
idk how you can not like selphieshe's a boss.
Other than the gamesave I downloaded with max money from the start, I can't say I've needed or used anything.
I'm like level 19 outside of Deilig/deiling whatever it's called, after the tomb where you get brothers - trying to find a wendigo to mug some steel pipes from to upgrade squalls weapon... but I can't find the mob anywhere and some sites I'm reading say it's in the woods, some on the plains, some in the tomb, that you gotta be 20+ etc etc.
Wish it would just pop so I could continue the game, really don't want to go further without weapon upgrades if I can get it.
As for selphie, boss or not I just don't like her character at all so I refuse to play it unless forced... which I am forced but yeah can still care less about her.
I didn't upgrade anyones weapons til like disc 3 lol. Forgot you could. Junctioning makes it so you can beat everything in the game with a lv1 weapon. I ended up never upgrading irvine's gun and he still did 9999 every pulse shot.
The best trick in the game I found, since I accidently went all the way to disc 4 as lv20, is to get your char with 100% zombie attack and have someone learn Recover JA -> Go to island closest to hell -> zombie -> recover + curagas -> go up 3-5 levels per kill.
Zell is fucking awesome, once he gets his last limit break or w/e he just rips things up
also:
I love how the level of your weapon and even your character is less important than the spells you have junctioned. the game is one of the easiest I've ever seen for a low-level/no experience runthrough. and if you do that up until you get Ability x 4 and the stat-increasing abilities, you can make some very sexy max stat characters.
so looking around forums and such, they want me to junction ifirit and siren to zell/irv as my attacker, giving that person full str buffs and whatnot... but not squall - even though squall is the only person with an upgraded weapon and is my highest level char...
Think I should just dump all that onto squall and make him my main attacker? He does hit the hardest right now.
Decided to go Squall Irv Quistis for this run. Irvs LB is nice and easyyyyy so I don't have to pay too much attention.
armageddon fist
Since I'm at work with my psp now, I might get zell/rinoa/selphie to around level 20. I just got Irvine his Ulyssys, but I'm still torn between him and zell.
In a perfect game I would have 4 party members, since I want the 3 guys to be in the same group so bad for the high damage - but It just feels like I should have one of the girls in there for support or casting (even though im at deling and havent casted a spell yet, since i have like 9million gil and just spam hi-potions if needed).
I dump all my attack GFs on Squall since he'll usually have a Lion Heart and he has guaranteed crits.
<3 Selphie, she seems so cute and innocent but she basically destroys a whole missle base by herself.
All characters are good.
Squall, Zell and Irvine can deal insane damage, Qustis and Rinoa are excellent support characters (and Quistis can kill any non-boss, non-tonberry mob in the game easily).
Selphie is a gamble: her limit break normally sucks but The End kills anything in the game, plus she is one of the only 2 characters who gets a 255% accuracy weapon.
i think the biggest problem with characters in FF8 is that they aren't all Quina from FF9
Every game needs a Quina. That is for damn sure.
Squall and Zell are definitely the hardest hitters of them all. Irvine is not bad too but his stuff cost ammo and sometimes its a little tedious to replendish it.
Selphie, Rinoa and Quistis definitely have more 'support' style limit breaks, although of the 3 of them I'd say Quistis is best because hers is the most reliable and the most balanced.
the old trick was to use Selphie and Slot, then open the PS cover and take your time to do over till you could get The End, which kills every single enemy bar undead.
She's also useful for Wall earlier on, as well as the fact that Slot is not silenceable.
Quistis is better though, since she can kill any single non-boss mob with Degenerator, super-enfeeble with Bad Breath, and do strong demi magic early in the game with Micro Missiles (useful for tonberry), but it is her defensive Blue Magic that really shine. Mighty Guard is your ultimate party buff and White Wind heals decent amounts to everything, provided her HP is low.
Rinoa is the damage powerhouse of the girls, and also helps in a different form of support. Invincible Moon is free Holy Wars, which are awesomely hax, and Angelo Reverse can save you from potential game overs. but her real specialty is Wishing Star which is lotsa AoE dmg, and Meteor in Angel Wing mode, which when pumped to high levels is pretty strong.
Isn't Rinoa harder to use, though? Like you have to get certain limit breaks but not others, so the ones you want have the highest chance of coming up. I forget, I haven't played the game in a long time, that might only apply to Angelo Search.
Although, now that we're on the subject, Angelo Search alone gives Rinoa an irreplaceable tool that no one else in the party has. It only really comes in handy once or twice unless you're a completionist, but the ability to gank some of the best items in the game out of thin air, even if it's tough to get it to work correctly, is worth a look.
Fucking game keeps freezing on my psp everytime i try to draw carbuncle. I realllllly hope it doesn't do this on my ps3 when I get home I'll be pissed.
The game freezes for me on the NORG fight. No matter what, its usually whenever he tries to cast a spell... and that fight is so cake for me atm.
