Rinoa is kinda harder to use, but with her you can choose not to learn some limit breaks so as to increase the occurance of Invincible Moon and so on.. Angelo Recover and Search are also unique to her.

I guess if you're a completionist then you'd probably learn everything.. I suppose the benefit of lucking out with her using Invincible Moon is good enough to offset the fact that you can't really control her. The rest of her benefits don't have much to do with her using Combine or Angel Wing.

If you're a completionist, try to do the disc 1 Laguna in Lunatic Pandora thing properly, or else you're going to have a hell of a time getting Power Generators to learn one of Quistis' blue magics.

another interesting piece of information on Rinoa:

    http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/197343/20880

scroll down to "Meteor Trick." basically with the right set-up she's just as overpowered as Squall or Zell and can easily do hundreds of thousands of damage in a very short time span.

Well the same save didn't freeze on my ps3 and allowed me to draw carbuncle. Just went back to OFW on my psp and am going to try it again when it's charged enough. Thinking it may be some issue with that, at least I hope.

If not, it means I have pretty much nothing to do tonight at work and will have to wait till I get home to play, at least, until I have fucking carbuncle drawn.

    yay for posting from psp.
Pulse ammo is a bitch to farm, u can always go kill elnoyle in esthar city over and over again, OR, just do AP Ammo (u can get this really easy in Disc 1) by getting the Ammo Refine from Ifrit (iirc) and play some Triple Triad and win Tonberrys/Grand Mantis Cards and refine them into items Chief's Knife/Some Claw and then into AP Ammo, about the same dmg as Pulse, yet much much easier to get.

My Party was Rinoa, Irvine and Squall (not buying the PSN game yet because i have the original CD's in great condition still lol)

I let my friends dad borrow VIII and IX some time ago. Friend died and now I think it would just be awkward to run into the dad and ask for my games back. Can't wait for IX to come out and I'm still waiting for VS. I know I can make a EU account but can I pay for it that way?

Going back to the OFW worked on my psp, was able to draw carbuncle and finish disc 1.

Yay. Something new to do at work.

Yeah she's quite possibly the best character in the game if you take your time learning blue magic and catching frogs.

Level 5 Death works on Grand Dragons which provide huge amount of exp, Angel's Snack = pseudo-Esunaga, Bad Breath works on a surprisingly high number of enemies bosses included, Vanish and Auto-Life are good support spells.
Mighty Guard and White Wind are not as good as previous games but still useful.

She also has a ridicolously overpowered combo that can be used throughout most of the game: Matra Magic + Limit Glove. Former reduces HP to 1, latter deals 9999 to anything if Quina's HP is 1. Both spells can be learned very early.

ah yes.. awesome quina. The only one who can do pseudo-Esunaga in the game.. but it uses up remedies...
s/he was one of my fave characters. didn't know you could Matra Magic yourself though.

back to FF8 though. has anyone who's playing the PS3/PSP version tried to see if they emulate pocketstation as well? lol.. cos it's sadly impossible to do perfect game without it.

So I'm on disc 2 just finished FH and can drive garden around now. Any side quests I should do now? How high can I upgrade my weapons at this point, currently using flame saber on squall and zells 2nd fist weapon.

You can get the ultimate weapons by the end of disk one, so all the way. Most the other upgrades are rather useless. Normally best and easiest just to go from first weapon straight to ultimate since they come so quick.

Get Tonberry GF, one of the best in the game.

You might want to get Odin as well, but that may or may not be useful depending on your playstyle.

If you fight Odin now you can get 300 Triple spells (which is like, the second best Junctioning spell in the game) from him for free.
Keep in mind that if you get Odin before the end of the 3rd disc he'll get replaced by Gilgamesh (which can really screw you if you ever plan on using Rinoa's Angelo Search to farm items).

You can start farming Ultima spells in the Shumi Village and you can complete the chocobo minigames now too.

I'd wait till the third disc until you start working on ultimate weapons, they're not really needed in the second.

I also believe this is the earliest chance you have to get Phoenix GF, just go find the little chocobo in Winhill village (see location on the world map) and keep walking on it till it drops a phoenix pinion.

Getting SO sick of the EU PSN getting screwed with PS1 re-releases. While JP and NA stores are getting re-releases of actual PS1 classics, we are stuck with Winnie the Pooh and A Bugs life...Vagrant Story was a nice change (I didn't like it, but it was still nice to see a release like that on EU store), but still.

Anyone have a clue when the re-release of FFVIII is coming to EU PSN? Really want to play on my PSP, but obviously, i can't yet.

Also - If i was to create a NA PSN account and download it from there, would the source code be compatable with an EU PSP?

I was able to farm Zell's final fists with no problem just now. Was going to finish squalls but I encountered a problem. Blue dragons just are not popping around trabia, so no fangs... So my only other option is to either get tonberry king now so I can level down grendels or just go for it again later.

Kinda torn on which to do. I feel like I'm looking in the wrong places for blue dragons... I checked the snowfields around trabia, near the mountains, and the forest just south... Blitz's are faily common so I don't mind farming them for power generators afterwards but this part is killing me. Not to mention, LionHeart should make tonberry king/odin a breeze, since my characters are level 35, 31, and 27.

edit: lol just got 8fangs from a blue dragon before giving up. To the blitz's! then tonberry/odin.

best place to get them is from running around a certain section of the advanced city and fighting the flying monsters that have no feet.. I forget their name.
