you were a dumb dumb while an undergrad and whatnot but then you became a super smart person after you got phd/masters.

I've only taken one philosophy course which was on like the history of major philosophers but it struck me as a field based on 'what if' and these people threw around proofs all crazy like with no regard for actually proving something. You have a proof 'proving' something and then a proof proving that proof wrong. People just playing make believe in their minds and not accomplishing anything. It was really easy though so I actually enjoyed the course.

Later Greek culture was even better. You had camps running around going "la-la-la we're right, but you have to prove your other theory is right."

In Psychology it's all calming down since we're basically always asking the same questions. It's changed so much in the lest century since we finally opened up to mind-body concepts again, unlike behaviorism at the turn of the last century, which tried to eliminate it entirely.

As for generalized philosophy, no clue.
