I doubt it. Between Kenan Thompson wearing a dress at least once an episode of SNL, cable stations following the lives of pre- and post-op trannies, and pretty much ALL of E! TV, I think the video game rating system will preserve anything as silly as Ms. Cloud.

Nomura: No on Final Fantasy VII Remake, yes on Cloud cameos

Fan favorite hero featured on the cover of Japan's biggest game magazine 13 years after his debut.

Did you know that Final Fantasy VII hero Cloud Strife was born in 1986? He met Final Fantasy VII heroine Tifa in 1995 and headed out on his fateful mission with Final Fantasy VII villain Sephiroth seven years after that. Five years later, he helped Tifa and a jive-talking Baret destroy a reactor in Midgar. This was the beginning of the original PlayStation FFVII.
(Incidentally, the 1986 and 1995 above are in Final Fantasy VII's calendar system. In this system, years post 1999 are written as 0000, 0001, 0002, etc.)
Did you also know that Final Fantasy VII other heroine Aerith dies midway through the game? If you didn't, don't blame me for spoiling it! Aerith's death and the circumstances behind it are detailed in this week's Famitsu -- in large lettering, too. This can probably be taken to mean that Square Enix approves of everyone knowing about it. I think we can officially declare this little story development no longer a spoiler.
Why is Cloud's history taken up in this week's issue of Japan's largest video game magazine when new games like Valkyria Chronicles 2 and Resonance of Fate are seeing release? Famitsu is now in the middle of a multiweek look at popular game characters. Last week's issue featured Mario. This week, Cloud gets an eight page spread, and his Advent Children figure gets the cover spotlight.
In addition to a detailed timeline of Cloud's life and a look at the many games that have featured the character, Famitsu managed to get some commentary from Tetsuya Nomura, the character's creator. Nomura shared some secrets behind the character's creation and also discussed the character's impact and possible future developments.
The original Cloud design, revealed Nomura, had the character's hair combed back, with the front standing. The style was changed because, in that form, the character did not give the impression of being a main character.
Cloud's Buster Sword also underwent some changes. While its shape has always been the same, it was smaller. Nomura noted here that as he redrew Cloud's illustration, the sword naturally got bigger and bigger.

It looks like Cloud really was Nomura's creation. Until FFVI, explained Nomura, FF series father Hironobu Sakaguchi had the final say in character settings. With FFVII, Sakguchi left these decisions to the designers, meaning Nomura was able to have a major say in the FFVII project as a whole. This is why FFVII has great meaning to him.
Nomura believes that the reason Cloud has earned such favor amongst players is because of the strong impact from his personality and from Kazushige Nojima's scenario.
On the always hot topic of future developments for the Cloud character, Nomura said the following: "Fans are looking forward to an oft rumored remake of FFVII, but I don't believe this will happen for the time being. However, it's possible that he will appear in other titles as a guest character."
    So, no to this:

    But yes to this:

Not concrete answer, they could still be working on it. Remember SE saying the new MMO won't be final fantasy based?

I'm not sure what that is, but I think we should burn it with fire.

I think thats Itadaki Street special for the DS. (its a jp onry board game, but this special version features characters from FF and DQ/DW)

anyway.. it probably is somewhere on their schedule in the near future, and they may already have made pre-arrangements to actually get started on it. But all that really is confidential I suppose. They might intentionally deny its existence until they have something to show for it, and so on...

But at least we know a FFVII remake isn't looming on the horizon yet. So this kinda leads to the question of what title Nomura was foreshadowing by saying fans have been asking for it...

KH3? oh god I hope not, but then again KH:BBS apparently foreshadows a KH3 as well too...

or it could be something out of the left field. we can only wait until it is announced

Yeah, but it's different. These are VIDEO GAMES. They are maaaade for children. And besides, all of that stuff like SNL and E! TV aren't free. Parents have to buy it for their kids and it's very very easy to monitor. There are ratings on the packages and parents can make informed decisions about what their kids watch. No kid can accidentally stumble across anything about gay people or cross-dressers on TV.

But games... they everywhere and any kid can play them whenever they want. They just show up on TV constantly and there are no parental controls or systems to keep kids from acquiring content that the parents, in their infinite morality, find unreasonable. They are shoving pornography down our children's throats. They sometimes make sexual jokes and sometimes people are wearing skimpy outfits. This stuff never shows up on TV. Kids can't accidentally watch GGW adds the way they can accidentally watch a man decapitate people in Manhunt 2. It's just so accessible.

It's called ratings and being a good parent.

True as that may be, try telling that to the people who air their grievances about gaming on Fox News or try convincing the idiot parents to slurp that shit up of this.

I'm just saying, parents are willing to show their kids the most horrific violence in movies and on TV, but show a pixelated nipple or have a vague reference toward homosexuality in a video game and the parents lose it.

It's bullshit, but you can't really compare games to what's on television and assume that as a result parents will be okay with what's in the games. The logic is reasonable, but the parents are not.

I'm just thinking that parents shouldn't be OK with ANY of it. TV, movies, games, music, porn, whatever it is, parents should take an interest and not place one type of media above another when it comes to showing Bobby what's up. But I get your point, people are stupid. Go figure.

It's not about games vs TV or whatever. It's about what is generally accepted and what is a stigma in the American society. Sex is horrible to talk about or show, but death, blood and gore is alrighty.
