Most fun minigame to me was from FF7. When you had to create those people that had different jobs like healer and ranger and stuff and place them on the mountain. Then they had to fight against the monsters coming up and you had to place or move your troops around, was fun. FF12 revenant wings is like it, love that game.

Fuck Roller Coaster game. Back in 90s there was a FAQ on GameFAQs claiming that you can unlock Zack by breaking the record on that minigame ("I have an uncle working at square..."asdafsdhdfgasdfs). Crap was literally at every FAQ/Cheat related website out there. Reviving Aeris v2.

I actually did waste time on that crap.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

Honestly the only person that got more cameos than Cloud or Seph was Gilgamesh.
I wouldn't be so harsh on SE actually. FFVII came out in 1997, Advent Children came out in 2005.

In between was almost 10 years of fans asking for a remake/sequel with SE constantly saying they didn't want to do it. Whether you wanted it or not, the demands for more FFVII were huge all those years, SE just finally gave into it. I could be wrong, but the overall impression I've gotten over the years that out of all the FFs, 7 was/is the most requested one for sequels/remakes/etc.

Maybe cause I am older like some others here and have seen the kinda craziness it was when it was first release, but for sure I am not surprised after all this time of people demanding that SE finally did something about it.

Man I remember seeing TV commercials for FF7, and this shit was like, really unprecedented at the time. Shit blew my mind.

FF7 introduced gamers to the RPG genre as heavily as Halo introduced stupid jocks to video games in general.

Man I first learned about RPG's watching my friend down the block play FF2 that he rented every weekend from the local video shop. It was pretty intense because he had to hope some other kid didn't rent it during the week and erase his save lolol

Those were the good ol' days. Parasite Eve, Vagrant Story, Xenogears, and my favorite was the LotD commercial with the epic music.

get your mind off it quick. Reminiscing usually leads to me looking up gameplay vids on youtube, which leads me to heading to a local game shop and rebuying the damn things

I know I shouldn't be harsh, but it just feels like SE has been trying to milk FF7 for all it's worth now. I never tried any of the spin off games but I still consider the movie crap outside of visuals.

I rented it once, "lost" it and paid the video store $30 or something and had my own copy.

Since we're talking about cool FF7 moments, one thing that I thoroughly enjoyed and have memories of is the Shinra HQ "level" when I was young. Exploring the building was fun, chasing the staff around was fun, getting into the fights were fun. Sneaking around was fun.

Then you have Hojo trying to sex Aerith and Red13, then you fight some monster boss, get captured, then set free mysteriously, you then get into 2 tough boss fights (tough at that time when I played as I was underlevelled/no idea what to do) on a fucking moving ELEVATOR (not to mention it opens the battle by shooting down the glass, that was bad ass). After you kill Hunded Gunner, PHEW! you think, but wait, wha? no victory??? HELI Gunner pops from no where and you commence battle with that. After you kill that, you cheer!

The scene jumps back to Cloud who then has a 1on1 against Rufus, which was fun as it was a duel, somewhat. After Rufus pussies out, you meet up with your Tifa and head down. The other crew has already gone to the ground floor but found the entrance apparently swarmed by police. Tifa arrives and then tells them to go upstairs. FMV + COOL MUSIC starts, Cloud come down in a fucking bike, tells the others to get on some truck, and Cloud drives fast and out some window. This scene was a bit too badass for the emo Cloud at the time in my opinion thinking back, but still badass. Then of course, the motorcycle "minigame" which was fast paced and fun, and then you're faced againt with yet ONE tough boss.

Lots of stuff packed into one bit of the game.

Then the game kinda got boring and dull from there

Goddamn it now I want to play it again. The first few hours of the game and the Gold Saucer are definitely my most favorite parts. Biggs/Wedge/Jessie dying close to the beginning of the game made me sad
