Powermax error list

Ok i'll explain the full situation and i need advice here.

Girlfriend's mom PC is going seriously slow, taking forever to boot, and i'm trying to check everypossible way to make sure we dont format

So tests i did

-FullSpyware/virus check
-Ram check
-HDD check

Now for the HDD she has a Samsung drive, so of course i used the samsung HDD test, and it gave me no error, but that software takes like 10sec to run so i don't think it used a full check.

So i used powermax, because even though it is for maxtor drives it detects almost any company drives so i wanted to see what it does.

But powermax give me an error 500100000 saying my drive is dying. Trying to find the error code and google with no result. So i'm wondering this

1) is my drive really about to fail and samsung test is too weak to see it? or is that powermax error just because i don't have a Maxtor HDD in it (mind you i used powermax to chck fujitsu drives before with no problem.)


She has a Old Dell PC with 512mb, so we are planning to upgrade her to 1gig or 2gig but i'm wondering if i should updrage her HDD too
