It's not an excuse persay ... its just .. nothing has caused there to be a push for change. No ex-leaders of a different shell joining going "DUDE ... RDMS! SERIOUSLY!" ... not massive wipes week after week .. nothing ... short of this thread. I mean, when or how did YOU learn to change? Perhaps you were experimenting, perhaps you read it on a forum, perhaps you learned from a new member .. I dunno, just nothing has changed our shell ... just read my edit above and you'll see.

Edit: I'll try to drop it here as the entire point of the OP was slimes, and we all agree, nuke the shit out of them and get them AWAY from the ally in case they do get TP.

There is nothing at all wrong with tasking BLMs to perform both crowd control and statue-clearing, if you bring them in your alliances. There is almost always enough MP to go around, especially in city zones.

And for the record, we do both melee and mage statue clearing (or both in pulls drawing/linking a lot of statues), depending on what kind of alliance setup I'm testing. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

For Vanguard Slimes, using both melee and mages to clear them works, but we have better results in general with BLMs killing them. If you have melee clear them, Tomahawk is really needed to speed it up and you have to be on top of Stun to prevent Fluid Spread from killing the people who aren't paying close enough attention to where they're standing (or BRDs). BLM or SCH clearing is typically safer, especially since you can draw the slimes away from the other alliances, as was noted earlier.

Now, I don't have perfect enfeebling gear, but I tend to top most BLMs in my shell, and when I drop a Sleepga, I get resisted by 25-50% of the mobs depending on mobs job or species (like demon) unless ES is u
    terrible

You're still in the day where BLMs are required to kill statues? For shame.
nukes one shot stones , MP is not limited , may I ask if you're high

edit: the thread in general lol

To join in on this Remora vs Necronus battle:

Melee's kill statues. If you have more than 1 BLM, one of those BLMs can help by tossing a stray nuke on one after sleepga's are off, but only if there are more than 2 statues (example: eye wall in Xarc)

This is really sad. Aside from PLD's (specifically PLD NM's) resist rates shouldn't be that high..capping stick rate in cities is laughably easy, and Xarc really isn't too bad.

Nah, I don't want it to be an argument. I found it a little odd that the BLM vs Statues and RDM vs BLM sleep thing was such a touchy subject for some.

I personally don't trust my own sleeping skill (as in the literal Enfeebling Skill I have with gear). I land sleeps like I said, about 50-75% of mobs in a crowd. PLDs tend to resist ... demons are like a coin toss ... and the sleepable hydra in Tav pwn'd me last week cause one decided my sleep was <Too Weak>. It's up to each RDM and BLM to trust their own skill gear, but its not like I don't cast sleeps at all. Sometimes RDM's miss a stray one, or sometimes they're dead, or sometimes even the gimper ones get ::gasp:: resisted. I tend to macro in more Enfeebling gear than most BLM's in my shell (Spellcast), but I've never been one to afford HQ staves other than Ice, but I sooo don't want to get into a discussion on my in game finances.

Anyway, feel free to make a seperate topic if ya'll would like, but since I seem to be alone on this side of the fence, I'm more than happy to go my merry way. Like I said, wasn't looking for a Sleeper debate in a thread about slimes. In other news , fuck Paralyzga.

I have to admit, our shell is pretty stuck in our old ways and so we've always brought BLM for stats as well. I guess maybe I've just not paid enough attention but I've never heard of melees taking stats before as a viable strategy <_<. Now my interest is piqued and I feel like the asshole who's been living in a cave with ear muffs on. Oh well, I'm always looking for ways to improve our performance, so this is nice to find I suppose.

True, true. I just came to Remora about 2 months ago, before that, I never knew anything about melee vs statues, or switching when PLD's or THF's 2 hour. We always just melee till it goes, then BLMs nuke to finish it. \o.o/

If nothing else, I have to give you credit for being completely honest. Not having a Pluto's staff is probably a large factor in your resist rate, as you said you have a lot of other good enfeebling gear.

He didn't say he had a lot of other good enfeebling gear. He said said he macroed in more stuff than the other BLMs in his shell, and apparently still can't sleep mobs, which is quite a joke.

Besides, in this day and time, there's no excuse not to have a Pluto's Staff as BLM main in Dynamis.

    Sure there is, time.

Here's the REALLY short version of why I was so poor over the past 4 years. I don't get a lot of play time. So I'd log on, do Dyna, log out. Log on, do Limbus, log out. Repeat. Between gather times and actual event times theres 12-13 hours spent. I played about 14 hours a week over the past 4 years.

It's always been something that bothered me about endgame in FF, no EXP/money from mobs and essentially no sellable drops (yeah, an Infinity core or a random craft item every once in a while). But I endured and I managed to stock a little money to keep my Limbus going. And yes this is a choice, I finished BLM AF2 eons ago and played getting no drops for 1-2 years. Then I literally collected all of BLU in 6 runs (only cause I had to leave just before a pants dropped on the first day or I'da finshed in 5 runs). Now its back to spending 8 hours a week with no actual character progress ... only moving backwards. Limbus uses my remaining time but I do stand to progress by collecting Homam for BLU.

Anyway, thats the short version and I'm not gonna bother getting anymore into it. I highly doubt anyone cares. And no, it's not a complaint. I'll be doing Dyna/Limbus long after I collect Homam and until either the shells die or FFXI dies.

Edit: Oh what the hell, here's my enfeeble for ya'll to lulz at while I drive home. X denotes no swap from spellcast.

    Dark Staff / Dark Strap / X / Phantom
    Igqira Head / X / Loquacious/ Phantom
    Wizard's Coat / X / Tamas / Omega
Rainbow / Witch Sash / Igqira Legs / Rostrum

OH , no Enfeeble merits .... Blue Magic and Elemental MagicOnly

Not to drag this on any longer than need be and you can PM this if you don't feel like posting, but what are you enfeebling in on BLM? I just checked my own macros, and even on runs where I have to borrow an NQ Dark because I'm stupid and leave my Pluto's in mog I'm no where even close to a 25% rate. I can only assume 0 merits? I'm really not trying to come off like a prick, but I can't fathom how on earth you are resisting that much.

My verdict: RDMs toss down an initial sleepga when the mobs get to camp while the BLMs take out the statues. When statues are done, BLMs overwrite with a Sleepga II.

    1 skill = 1 magic accuracy
1 INT = 1 or 1/2 magic accuracy (it turns into 1/2 at high INT)
NQ staff = hidden +20 magic accuracy (matching element only)
HQ staff = hidden +30 magic accuracy (matching element only)

If your sleep rate is already >50%, then 1 additional magic accuracy will increase your sleep rate by 1% until it caps somewhere around 95%. Below 50%, 1 magic accuracy affects success rate by 0.5%.

witch sash -> penitent's rope: lose 2 sleep accuracy
dark staff -> pluto's staff: gain 10.5 to 11 sleep accuracy
no necklace -> enfeebling torque: gain 7 sleep accuracy
no gloves -> master caster's bracelets: gain 7.5 to 8 sleep accuracy (with signet on, always active in dynamis and sea/limbus)

Should help a great deal with landing sleeps without costing you a dime.

PLDs have a separate resist sleep trait. A 70+ PLD has something like a 40% chance of resisting an otherwise successful sleep. When this trait procs, the log message that appears is slightly different from a regular sleep resist.
