The Best Picture that year was particularly weak, Benjamin Button was the only other one that had a chance of winning.
The Dark Knight did not deserve to be on that list.
Why not? Simply saying it didn't deserve it isn't any sort of reason at all.
Benjamin Button was great. Slumdog was great. I liked Benjamin Button more then Slumdog as well, but I enjoyed The Dark Knight significantly more then either of them. It did pretty much everything better then Slumdog, and was far more original. Slumdog was a fun feel-good movie to watch..but it was just another Bollywood Cindarella story. There really wasn't anything all that new about it. It's kinda like Avatar in the regard really.
Slumdog wasn't "original" but another Batman movie was.
Get out.
Its invalidated because every other Batman movie was terrible. Batman Begins was by far the best one outside of TDK, and even it was nowhere close. Tim Burton's was never good, and each succeeding film was progressively worse. Batman and Robin was an absolute joke.
There are several good films along the lines of Slumdog released ever year. Not that Slumdog isn't a good film, its great. I have little to no criticism for it. I just prefer seeing different movies get recognition, rather then the same genre/same basic plot win over and over and over again.
Incoming Avatar winning for best picture and people thinking it was actually a good film as opposed to a good tech demo.
You'd like to see different movies get recognition, and you choose The Dark Knight.
You're making no sense and I'm getting trolled.
So happy Avatar didn't win best picture. I admire Cameron for going with his vision, but the story was generic and the screenplay was downright terrible.
The only good part about TDK was Ledger's Joker, for which he won the appropriate award. He was SO good, in fact, that people have deluded themselves into thinking that movie it was a part of was good too.
