FFXI is not the first time the name has been invoked. You can find the name in several games/animes/books. A lot of artists/storywriters tend to pull from ancient mythology on a large part, if you hadn't noticed.

Just because you are most familiar with this rendition, do not believe that it plays any such part. That would be quite silly honestly.

Yeah, it's not the first name it's been invoked in games before. However, in FFXI the usage of the name/word "Mithra" is completely irrelevant and has nothing to do with the gods/ religion, and I can understand the name change. It's not "silly", because people get pissed off over stupid things like this all the time.

Playing either Hyur or Lalafell, haven't decided yet. I played both in XI and they both look really good in XIV. The recent picture of the Hyur Mage and the Lalafell Corsair aren't exactly helping my choice either, they both look really good.

Another reason why I'll likely go with Hyur is...well, the versatility. Just like in XI I'll probably end up focusing on multiple classes.

Not sure how the stats will go in XIV but I don't expect them to be significantly different than XI, at least in terms of races.
