I'll be staying loyal to Taru's..... Lalalafellele or whatever they are called now. I'll still call 'em Tarutaru.

Not sure if this has been said or if anyone has seen it in alpha/beta testing, but I was wondering if characters will be granted a bonus if they are fighting in the land area that is most common to them and possibly a decrease if in the opposite situation. Either way I'm pretty sure I'm going Hyur since I was Hume in XI and liked them. Plus since it looks like we will allocate our own stats minus HP and MP I think picking a race is more a cosmetic option then based off of bonuses to different races like XI was. Even though most people still went for the look and could care less about the stats.
Oh lol I didn't know there was only 1 zone so far I thought they added more with the new beta. I doesn't help that I'm trying to keep up to date on this stuff on this 5yr old mac that has a terrible time playing videos and I'm sure I have missed quite a bit in the other forums on what's going on with the alpha and beta. Oh well it could still be possible to see if a race gets a bonus in that 1 zone. I know there is more then 1 race to choose from. Anyways I'm still for Hyur and it was just a speculation plus I'm sure if there was a bonus someone would have already seen it. I'm just thinking they have to give advantages and disadvantages to each race I guess the HP and MP do that so maybe thats all it is.
Female Lalafell simply because I played a Female Taru White Mage in XI.
i was a male hume in ffxi...and im gonna be boring and be male hume for ff14
idk why i cant see my self as any other race...although back in ff11 i was pretty close on being a elvaan...just couldnt stand being so glanky lol
Pretty surprised at how close the poll is.
Even though Roegadyn is lowest, I figured it would even be lower than that.
I'm pretty sure I remember an old interview where they stated that you could begin in any city with any race without any bonuses/penalties.Not sure if this has been said or if anyone has seen it in alpha/beta testing, but I was wondering if characters will be granted a bonus if they are fighting in the land area that is most common to them and possibly a decrease if in the opposite situation.
A Higher male. I refuse to be called Hyur. Really S-E?? Just stick with Hume.
I'll end up spending hours making the perfect character. Since I haven't seen much battle animations for the races I'm interested in, I'm planning on making a character and testing out the animations/emotes, delete it, and try a new race. If I'm going to play this game for several years I need to like what I'm looking at.
I'll end up trying Highlander, Elzen and Roegadyn. I really want to see the differences in attack animations and see how close they were to FFXI.
For the life of me I haven't been able to find a screenshot of an Elzen Male in battle stance with the Marauder axe. I also have no idea if battle animations between clans differ in the case of highlander, but I'm willing to bet they don't.
Likely just female Hyur, too many damn Miqo'te runnin around.
As long as the hp/mp differences between races aren't massive at like in 11, I'll have no problems picking what I think looks nice. Otherwise....... galka or taru... fuck the rest.
Taru or Galka... that's awesome if there's no stat discrepancy between the races. Otherwise I would just pick human... I did see pics of Roegadyn in this game and they look awesome in robes, I'll probably start out with a Roegadyn and a mage-like job.
Was thinking of going with the creepy elezen or the night mithra... but then I found out in beta yesterday I could have different colored eyes and awesome hair on the lalafell dunesfolk...
Guess I'm rolling lalafell
can't get the awesome hair my toon has though
after playing the beta a little im going to be a midlander and do botany and sell weaving and wood mats to make money, craft the alchemy mats and lvl that as a craft, and play a gladiator with conj and thaum spells so i'll be a little bit like a redmage.
