Besides, distancing ourselves from 12 year old kids who still like Yugioh and Loony Toons is NOT a bad idea.

The term has been around since long before WoW or FF11, and before kids overran mmos. It's not really childish, and it was probably more appropriate to call the characters toons back then because they didn't look very realistic to begin with since the graphics were so bad 15+ years ago.

Like most other people who loved playing Taru in FFXI I must say Lalafells do not represent at all. Sadly, they're my best choice for now, unless they surprise me with Roegadyn being able to be good at magic (wishful thinking, I know). I tried a Lalafell on a beta shared account and even though it's not too bad, they're not nearly as awesome as Tarutarus.

Maybe when I actually sit down to create my own character on release I'll try it to look as close as Sofo as I can.

Not wishful thinking at all. First of all they don't want races to differ too much, plus you get the whole stat thing. Secondly, descriptions of one of the Roegadyn clans said they excel at magic.

Going to be an Elezen male, mostly because I played Elvaan male in FFXI and I liked that race the most, which I guess is still the case with FFXIV. About the clan though, I'm not entirely sure yet, because there isn't enough info about their real differences (if there actually are any), and by judging from the character creation vids in youtube, it looks like they both have nearly the same skin color tones and other characteristics as well, so I'm yet to figure out what actually separates the clans, the background? The starting clothes? I guess time will tell.

Tarutaru are 3 heads tall
That changes everything
