Heh, what those picturess don't show are the differences in collar design.

The knot of the tie varies slightly in each, mostly in size, and the tie should "fit" the collar of the shirt.

However, in today's general business fashion, the windsor does everything, and guys have two kinds of shirts: Collars with buttons, and collars without buttons.

On rare occasion you get the more classic-fashion businessmen with their french cuffs and matching collar, but that's usually upper echelon banking or finance (or people emulating those folks).

Well, that's the argument I was given. Really, I think that tie fashion evolved in different geographic regions, along with shirt fashion, and certain shirts and tie knots evolved together.
