How do I play an H major chord?

H and B are closely related quantities but technically aren't the exact same thing. Normally we use B = uH (where u is the permeability of free space), though in some cases (certain magnetic materials) it looks a little different (H = B/u - M. This is the more general formula, and B = uH is really just a special case. But it's this special case that allows us to use B and H interchangeably since they are directly proportional to each other. It's just a matter of changing the units you use or attaching a constant to your equations).

Ah, all the math books I used this semester used H in Maxwell's equations. Looking at them again, the ones with H don't have the u involved, never noticed that before. I just remember it bringing some confusion in the classroom why H and B were different, funny since my professor didn't even know why. Where were your H chords when I was still in class so I could have looked smart!

It's a classical scripting that's kind of frowned upon in the music world. Bach was well known for scripting B chords with H instead, because of the confusion with Bb and the fact that there wasn't really a Bb chord outside of B-flat (also scripted as Bb).

Using it just means you have no clue how to compose music. Play it as a Bmaj7.

lol I never really put much thought in the whole H/B crap even tho I studied music, I kinda just figured it was a way to lure in the retards, seeing how the first key you learn on a piano is C, and not messing it up when you go a whole round and find out the last key is B, thus LOWER then the starting-key.

wiki was worthless on how it turned out...I guess it was merely a missprint and noone dared to correct it (b => h)

Edit: And logically following, using H might be to make it easier to distinguish between the B flats and the Bs.

Edit2: My first guess was actually that it was noting an A major, but an octave up, but people seem to recognize its use from other materials so I'd not put money on it, especially considering the scale goes from C-C, not A-G.

Well, we say 'h' instead of 'b' in Norway, but it's the same chord yes. Strange enough it's the only difference I can think of, between us and you, when it comes to this denotation
