see table 9.2, among 18-25 in recent years, consistently over 50% have tried pot itself at some point, which is especially crazy considering pot only generally accounts for about half of all "first time" drug uses
I don't have numbers handy for projections on "everyone who's ever tried any illegal drug," but I'm quite certain over 50% have, at least of those under 60ish.
pretty sure if you include all drugs, most people have done an illegal drug at least once in their life.
and if you include alcohol before age 21 as an illegal drug, well then the numbers just skyrocket. and I do count that. I got into an argument with my prissy ex-roommate once when she tried to get down on me for smoking pot, and her ONLY reason was that it was illegal. I was like "yeah, but you're 19 and you drink like a fish." she was all "that's different! it'll be legal eventually!"
yeah well, pot will be legal eventually too, and already is in a lot of countries. so shove it, Jenni.
ahem. sorry. that got a bit personal.
College town with tons of hippies means you can't go 20 feet in any direction without the possibility of finding weed.
According to a 1997 survey I googled, 36% of people have tried an illegal substance.
Those are just the people that answer truthfully and people who take surveys. If 36% of people admitted they did something illegal, I'd wager even more didn't admit to it or were too high or busy living their lives to take a stupid fucking survey.![]()
The whole thing is hilarious, especially the part with the vet talking about the VA.
I find it ironic that there are people who criticize marijuana users yet they drink alcohol.
no, but I've found that a majority of people who are anti-weed definitely are sitting on a moral high horse. and I mean people who look down on marijuana users, not people who just don't use themselves. I have a lot of respect for people who don't smoke but don't care if someone else does, that's the way to be.
Oh, and this reminded me of the old Onion article:

Honestly, only reason I really "look down on" people who do nothing but get drunk or high is most of the time they treat it like some sort of religion where it's there goal to get me to do the same. Obvious effects of use, both directly and indirectly, aside, I'm pretty much with Ksandra in thinking it an irresponsible use of money, too.
That said, how others have used and turned around and affected my life has pretty much guaranteed I don't wanna touch the stuff let alone have it near me. By proxy, that means legalization of weed for recreational use isn't something I'd go for. And if you wanna turn around and tell me how alcohol's exponentially worse, well, I won't agree or disagree. Unfortunately, I don't see it going anywhere due to lobbyists and how it's basically been ingrained into cultures worldwide.
s'up
I personally have no problems with people doin anything that's not dangerous to others and themselves, including weed. I was never much to look down on anyone unless they proved themselves to be a complete douche. I'm not a fan of any drugs to be honest (including tobacco and alcohol) unless there's an actual, medical need for them. It's not for any moral reasons, I just was never a fan of having to forcibly alter the chemicals in my brain just to "have fun". I can do plenty of incredibly stupid things without chemical stimulants, and any inhibitions I have are there for a good reason. I just don't want to be the drunk guy in his boxers at 2 am flashing his nutsack while puking up a friendly's sunday. I mean, it's all fun and games until there's chocolate vomit all over the floor.
The responses are kind of shocking to me honestly, since I literally can't think of a single person that I know who has not smoked pot at least once. That includes parents/family, boss and coworkers, and all of my friends.
Question, never have done weed or anything like that. Does the food actually smell/taste like marijuana? I don't find the smell to be pleasant let alone appetizing, if someone wouldn't mind shedding some light on this, it'd be appreciated.
