Guilty Gear Lives!!!

Series creator Daisuke Ishiwatari has revealed that Arc System Works are looking at bringing a new entry in the Guilty Gear series to the PS3 and Xbox 360.

"What we can say about Guilty Gear is that it is not dead yet", Arc System's Tomo Ohno told NowGamer. "It has not ended. The producer/creator of Guilty Gear, Daisuke Ishiwatari, his comment for this meeting [was] ‘I have the full intention to create Guilty Gear for PS3 and 360."

That's a proper Guilty Gear, too, not a spin-off thing like Overture.

Fans will remember that earlier in the year it emerged that Arc System Works had lost the rights to the series. Guess Ishiwatari and Sega managed to work something out! Or, at least, are trying to work something out.

Since it's not BB related, I decided to make a new thread on it.

Waking up to this news completely made my day, i've been waiting for a new guilty gear after accent core for a while. I really can't wait for this to start being developed, hopefully they won't nerf May.

Hopefully it'll be a good entry point for me.

Only ever played GG:X2 on the Xbox for a short while and didn't quite get into it. An HD make-over and perhaps a good training mode would be nice, anything to get more use out of my arcade stick.

Is there much difference in playstyle and depth between GG & BB? I was always under the assumption GG has more going for it since it's had over 8 revisions in the series, where-as Blazblue is something fresh, although based off similar concepts.

BB imo is GG in easy mode. There's nothing like GG, the game was awesome as hell. The combo system in GG is a bit less lenient than BB, the recovery system is perfect, the defense system is amazing. BB is fun as hell don't get me wrong, but you bet your ass that the second this comes out, i'm gonna get my hands on it and throw out every fighter i've had. Especially if this is a continuation from accent core, if it's accent core remade in hd (which i doubt), i'll be just as happy.

I think one of the reasons BB was even playable online though had all to do with the combo system being lenient, rather than relying on 1-3 frame reaction times while letting lag get in the way.

Regardless, I hope they carry over the same engine for the online play, one of the best I've seen for a fighter yet.

Does the series have any super-fast characters like Tao? I prefer stupidly fast but weak over slow and strong (fucking Tager...).

Really awesome to see this is going to happen. Really sad that my friend who plays Litchi in BB and destroys me plays Bridget 10x better than his litchi and I'll never stand a chance lol

After that piece of trash of Overture its nice to hear Guilty Gear getting something new that goes back to fighting.

Overture was kinda fun for me, it actually does fit in the the whole story of guilty gear.

Anyways, @Kaisha, a huge reason why BB was very playable online was due to the 5-frame buffer for the combos. It made it extremely lenient to pull a combo and allowing yourself to delay hits (like Noel). GG doesn't have that, thus the reason why the combos are less lenient, however there's more freedom towards them.

Forgot to mention Accent Core had the Force Breaks, Roman Cancels and False Roman Cancels. Things were amazing.

I'm guessing it won't be GGX3 or anything after AC. Usually they put it out in arcade first before there's a port to PS3/XBOX. So it will probably be AC or something gimmicky like Isuka. Either way, don't know GG series will be playable online, where FRC inputs are usually less than 4-5 frames. A tiny bit of lag will make some certains combo undoable.

I doubt it's another Isuka considering that was a spin-off as well. I really can't wait, whether it's an accent core remake or a new version after AC, i'm prolly gonna pick it up for both consoles.
