Nin/Drk can solo tank DI fine. My old leader did it lots (mainly because beween kills 120-150 odd, we only had 6-10 people).

At the same time, Pld tanks it fine aswell. "anything you can't atonement you shouldn't use a pld" is a silly thing to say really. Pld, Nin, who actually cares? For the most part it wont make any difference. There certainly wasn't a noticable change in killspeed between solo pld DIs and solo Nin ones out of the bloody milllions of them we had killed. The only ever difference was that the nin could claim if it popped in a zone that didn't have a claimer (like I said, often scouted and claimed with less than 6ppl, trickling up to 8-10 when it popped and people stopped fake afking)

Why is that unbelievable? DI melee attacks are a complete joke to anyone with a PDT set, and 2/3 of his damaging TP attacks can be reduced to just above 0 for ~200k and a carol

In summary, anyone who can keep hate /NIN and has access to a PDT and thunder set can solo tank DI with ease

Edit: And you're even stupider than I thought if you believe paladin has any defensive edge over red mage. Atonement is the only reason the flash-bot is used anymore.

I'm hardly a Ridill fanboy, but Hauteclaire is useful for AV and DI, both of which are better left to a different class of tank(unless you're trying to survive Meteor with Fealty, or something). Ridill is useful for a shitton more than that piece of shit sword

If dying is still a serious concern for your tank on ixion, regardless of their job, then you need a better tank. Any /nin job with some PDT can tank it, provided they have some means of gaining/maintaining hate without meleeing (blm/nin and whm/nin can both tank ixion easily). AV isn't a valid arguement because we don't know how to weaken it, that aside rdm would still be a better tank than pld for it due to MDB trait.

Due to the fact meleeing ixion whilst tanking is ineffective, tanks which have a larger variety of hate tools are better. Rdm, nin and drk can all spam more spells and recap VE more often than a pld.

Lol. I can't believe some really think pld is the only job that can tank successfully. Like someone else stated any job that can keep constant hate without having to DD can tank, mainly rdm, nin & drk. If they know how to run from DI, to avoid moves makes things easier. =)
