Why do people whine about others' graphics so much? Increased performance is so much more important than nicer graphics in this game, at least to me.

When I turned up my resolution to native 1366x768, I actually found the game ran better.

And as I said above, SS quality is far worse than in-game graphics quality. That said, some pointers would be nice.

Which format is it saving image files as, according to your init.txt?

Background resolution is set to something like 512x512; crappy file format would have affected the overlay resolution as well. Change keys 0003 to 800 and 0004 to 600 and you'll be golden.

Start > Run > Regedit, then browse to one of the two keys below.

On 64-bit OS it's HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\PlayOnline US\SquareEnix\FinalFantasyXI\.

On 32-bit OS it's HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PlayOnlineUS\SquareEni x\FinalFantasyXI\.

I don't understand how people can be content playing with constantly uncapped FPS... I feel irritated every time I dip below 29.4, but I guess that's because I want to play as efficiently as I possibly can.

There's not much that I do in game anymore. Playing 20+ fps is good enough for me (since there really is no visual difference between 20+ and 29,4 <_<)

However, I get irritated when i dip below 20.

Edit: I also should say I play drawdistanced. For me to get a static 29.4 FPS with drawdistance set at 5.0, my graphics would have to be turned WAY down.

You need to get your eyes tested then... the difference is very noticeable indeed, at least if you're playing actively. Or maybe it's just me.

The difference between 29.4 and 23-25ish is very minute. without drawdistance up, I'm static 29.4, but with, I'm between 20-25always.

Going below 20 is the only time i notice it. With my graphic settings i usually stay at around 23 for events. so it works out fine.

Yes. A marked improvement from 4 years ago when he fulltimed 5/5 valor and refused to use homam.
