xDD Our Thief all have them in LS now, gonna go freelot soon >.>"
I thought you guys said it doesnt matter what a thf wears so long as it's knife+ armlets?
It's not a top tier DD but given how necessary the job is to most events and that its damage output isn't as bad as people like to think it is, you might as well make it do damage instead of notsure it's never going to lead a parse, but adding x amount of damage over a fight is still adding x amount of damage, just like all of those other gear upgrades you're working on.
Depending on situation, pretty much. All melee are situational in that respect though. At the very least you can soloSA/soloTA since the TP fed on those is reasonable compared to the damage inflicted.
In any situation where you have multiple melee on a mob anyway, the TP fed isn't really important, though this often relates to larger LSs.
Sure I don't think a THF should neglect the TH side of himself since it is his niche in endgame, but having a geared THF vs a nongeared THF in an event where it can be used to inflict damage will be a greater increase in damage than giving you an Adaman Hauberk, or <insert other epeen item>. To neglect it is a bit silly, especially if you push yourself in other ways.
I knew this would turn out into another THF isn't a dd discussion.
Doesn't it always![]()
I'm sorry, but tossing acid bolts at a hnm (which likely wont proc) doesnt feed TP?
A THF/NIN will give less TP than a SAM/WAR or WAR/SAM or whatever due to the subtle blow2 trait from SJ. Not to mention, most THFs that pride themselves on their job(few and far between) have some sort of subtle blow build they can use to reduce "TP spam" even further.
Solo SA and TA is going to be the best damage/tp melee strikes in any alliance if "normal TPing" is forbidden, so a THF's equipment and playstyle can make a huge impact on the effectiveness of a group.
i outparse well geared DDs on my thf. thf is a DD, and people are just too ignorant to realize this.
have you ever tried to melee fafnir as thf, konda? all i hear is wiff and hits for 0, honestly. even with full acc build and sushi all i hear is wiff. it's basically the same thing on all hnms tbh. sa or ta an hnm as thf is basically the only way to go otherwise the mob either has too much eva to hit or gets hit for 0.
thf is not horrible by any standards on most mobs, but when it comes to hnms it cannot even compete with 2h jobs.
I've melee'd Fafnir and Nidhogg on THF, and I didn't experience poor accuracy or many hits for 0! Granted a 2hander would've slaughtered my damage, but "always missing and never hitting above 0" is very exaggerated.
THF/WAR,
Blau/Viking/---/Bomblet
Turban/PCC/Ethereal/Brutal
Corazza/Homam/Ulthalam's/Rajas
Forager's/Swift/Homam/Homam
is what I had at the time, so far from perfect too. I used either pizza +1 or sushi, I can't remember. Hits were about 10~ each with Berserk down with a few 0s. 20~30 each with Berserk up, and I occasionally got a Minuet on top of that which put it to 30~35ish (all very approximate numbers, don't take them for granite)! Overall though little to no external melee buffs. TA Mandalic Stab consistently dealt 500-650 damage. While this is not impressive by any means, it's not useless either.
Or you could have a TH4 mule log on, hit it then log right off!
I have tried to melee fafnir as THF and although I was dismally equipped back then, I can see many of the same problems being presant if I was to do it again today. I've also encountered the similar problems (although not as many 0s) on SAM.
let me ask this of the people who think THF is only thf's knife and armletts:
Have you ever killed bune with the aid of a signal pearl?
Have you ever killed Citadel Chelonian in a 4man salvage run, with a 2box'd BRD, while killing Dekka, gyro1 and gyro3? (3player+1=4)
Have you ever broken 2k on anything that gives experience, or if you have, anything in a merit party?
Can you duo Big Bomb, and the majority of the mobs required for davoi SCNM?
A well geared/played THF doesnt deserve to be compared to a TH bot who melees everything with TH4, and does very little else. Unlike other DDs, there's more to it than simply hitting "TP equipment" and "WS equipment" macros and using weaponskills at the appropriate time, and therefore it is more difficult and challanging to play.
Please stop confusing gimp THFs with THFs who put an effort in, go the extra mile and take THF for the versitle job that it is.
