Hate completely. Fuck Cage, too.
lol
I think if the movie really is like the comic than
(Don't read this if you don't want the plot ruined.)
Spoiler: show
Mod edit: the part outside of the spoiler still strongly hinted at the content of the spoiler, watch that in the future.
I actually want to see this... lol... I'm in with the Cage haters though, fucking horrid actor.
He is an actor?
Clearly you people have never seen God of War or Raising Arizona.
or face off!
oh wow I meant Lord of War.
but http://niccageaseveryone.blogspot.com/ demonstrates nic cage would make a compelling kratos.
I'm not saying he's never had a good role. But when you have 2 good roles out of however many roles you do then you suck.
I read the comic and although the narration done by Kick Ass himself can have a tone of dark humor the comic isn't really that funny. Other than the narration there are a few lines here or there. It makes me wonder how close to the comic they really plan to make this since the trailers seem a little more silly than the tone you get from reading the comic.
Also they got McLovin to play Red Mist I guess in an attempt to make him goofy or silly but Red Mist in the comic is just kind of a dick who smokes pot all the time; not so much funny.
He has more, but those are 2 of the most noteworthy. Going through his entire career and mentioning every quality performance would be tiresome.
Matchstick Men and The Family Man are two other ones that stick out in my memory. When he isn't playing his pop corn schtick movies he is quite good, hes good even in some of the popcorn movies so considering the strong pedigree of the story + McLovin I'd wager this will at least be watchable.
this will be far more than watchable, cage's roll isnt even that big
I know it's early, and there are only 12 reviews so far, but it's 100% on RT atm.
also lol IGN UK gave it 5/5 stars
And this is where Vaughn and the rest of his team truly excel. Sure, Kick-Ass is a rip-roaring action flick full of accomplished performances and smart one-liners, but unless you truly care about the characters, it's just another disposable superhero flick.
But you do care. Such time, effort and thought has clearly gone into the creation of Kick-Ass, Red Mist, Big Daddy and Hit-Girl that it's all-but-impossible not to root for them. The costumes may be laughable and the situations far-fetched, but it is shot and played with a conviction that truly grounds the picture in reality.
For that very reason, Kick-Ass is as good a superhero movie as has yet been made -- storytelling of the very highest order, crafted by experts who know, love and treat the subject matter with the respect it deserves.
The result is utterly compelling from start-to-finish; an adaptation that perfectly captures the anarchic nature of the comic while at the same time eliciting unexpected emotions from a film about a crime-fighting kid in a wet-suit.
You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll squeal in delight at the outrageous behaviour of a little girl in a purple cape. But most of all, you'll wish that all superhero movies were like this.
Man, I cannot wait.
Watched this yesterday, absolutely awesome, was just pure fun from start to finish, with some spectacular action scenes and the odd bit of laugh out loud humour.
Im with all the cage haters, him and his fake hair can diaf, luckily enough, his part doesnt get that much screen time, although, saying that, he is pretty decent in it.
I had no idea it came from a comic until reading this thread, so now i expect lots of fan boys crying out and bad mouthing the movie because they "didn't do it right"..
A definate must see, 9/10.
