THATS SO CRAZY OMIGOSH!!!
THATS SO CRAZY OMIGOSH!!!
lol@ all the haters.
Just some rich kid in the block, the name says it is so. I could really put my dick into that chick's mouth from FFXIV
That's nothing, Im sure 'Blind' of Pandemonium can give him a run for his RMT'd money.
Edit: I'd like to give Fenrir's Darkhell an honorable mention as well.
This is olde.
He spent in-game currency that is equivalent to that amount in real life, he didn't actually spend that money--he earned the money all in-game.
I was about to say OLD NEWS ... but then I noticed the name Buzz Lightyear. Thats when I realized this spacestation was sold BETWEEN players.
Originally in 2005 when even I played Entropia, a guy named John "Neverdie" Jacobs bought it for about the same cost but from the game makers directly via auction. He was a west coast DJ and got the game makers to stream his music/radio station on the space station where he had a club and such set up (besides all the monsters and phat mining lewt). His wife actually played too and died around that time unexpectedly ... as far as I know theres a memorial gravesite set up for her on the spacestation by the game makers for him as well. I think Neverdie made about 100k a year on it, but that was back then and may have changed ... who knows.
Buzz on the other hand was an UBER crafter from back then. Unlike FFXI, everytime ANYONE crafts something of value, i think $5 dollars or higher the entire server gets an announcement. I think I did it once in my few years of play. Those messages popped up about once every 5-10 minutes counting both active and inactive hours. When Buzz was on though, you got spammed with his winnings all day long.
For reference, Entropia is basically a Casino is video game form. Every monster you kill often takes more money in ammo to kill than its drops are worth. Every craft in the game yields an item worth less than its components. What you're really hoping for is a Jackpot where an item that doesn't belong pops in the loot pool. Ex. you might "accidentally" make a 2 rubies and a diamond while making that Kevlar Vest. Anyone who does ANYTHING on the spacestation automatically has some percentage of loot send directly to the spacestations owners account.
Edit:
Like I said, this is a casino in disguise ... their RL security tokens aren't just like FFXI's for logging in, they actually get a scanner and card that they swipe to generate passwords to logon and the card can be used in RL stores as a Debit card. If he spent ingame currency worth $300k, thats currency he could have bought a house with, at any moment.
You guys really never heard of it? D: Geeez. Slow BG, slow.
If anyone ACTUALLY cares, here's an example of a "Buzz-like" streak i found in my old Screenshots. For reference 10 PED = $1 USD ... PED therefore ebbs and flows with USD inflation/deflation.

I saw this a couple months back on a Canadian news show. It was a whole episode dedicated to MMO culture. They also had a small feature on a couple guys running an RMT company in Europe who would outsource to workers in Asia (I forget what the country was). A housewife paid the RMTs to level her character for her.
... what? Sweden even legitimize it as a bank?
Why have I never heard of this game if its so popular in Sweden that banks accept it? Hell, I've never seen that mentioned anywhere, ever, except for that article.
Ah,
#1 ... no job classes ... you're a human colonist ... thats all. All skills start at one and go into the thousands if you're persistent.
#2 ... weapons have wear like in WoW ... swords take about as much damage per swing as a gun uses in ammo, well, a little less actually, you get more bang for your buck on melee, but since the monster can now eat you face to face your armor damage or death will solve the imbalance.
The way to make money is just casino-like. Any given kill, craft, etc returns some percentage back over time. Lucky people hit jackpots, unlucky people watch their money evaporate, and the average person just sees their money bounce around with ebbs and flows of good and bad days. This game may be free, but to honestly stay alive you either A) get lucky, B) have TONs of patience to play the market for every small gain you can or C) just live with some constant game input to keep playing without going broke (i.e. put in $10-$20 a month and just pretend its subscription based)
Short version: The house always wins.
And here I always thought it was Buzz Lightgear
WHITE PEOPLE ARE CRAZY
wow @ the guy that killed a mob and got $150...
something I don't get here though, how do they manage the "PED" creation?
Like, what's to stop someone that works on the inside from just making enough to go buy a car?
I guess it's probably pretty intense on security in that regard, anyone seen shit about how the legal part of that is handled?
I looked up vids on youtube and thought they were just joke vids because they looked so bad and boring. I guess the appeal is for making money and not much else.
