    More issues

This is the link to the previous thread I had made:
    http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/showthread.php?t=84520

So I got the RMA mobo all installed and it seems to not be faulty this time at least. But I still have random complete PC freeze at least once a day now. Most the time I have 2 instances of FFXI running, sometimes Firefox or another random program running as well.

So any ideas and thoughts would be great to hear!

    Thanks

Well I found this memtest at http://hcidesign.com/memtest/

I ran it for about 10 minutes and it already had 16 errors. =/

    Guess we found the problem.

    -.-

So I got 4GB of new RAM. Things were running ok for the last however long since I posted. Was trying to avoid reformat but things seemed to be running a little slower than I had remembered before I got this new mobo.

So last night I reformatted. Reinstalled FFXI and Firefox today.

So I get everything setup log into game for about 5 minutes was standing in one spot and complete PC freeze again.

Exactly like the first problem I had. Which I thought was bad RAM but apparently it's not if it is doing this again after reformat.

Is my mobo defective again? Any help is greatly appreciated!

rerun memtest86, you can download it on a boot cd so it wont give you the 64bit stuff, this isnt necessarily your motherboard or RAM either, it could also lie in your video card (every instance of freezing you are using your video card (you have FFXI running)) or even possibly your power supply

reading your other thread, i definitely want to know what size PSU you are using, your video card and ram could EASILY be overloading it if its not powerful enough, and could be your whole problem to start with

This is the PSU I have: http://www.bfgtech.com/bfgr550wgxpsu.aspx oops try this
This PSU will be 1 year old next week if that matters at all.

So far I have tested one stick of RAM in each of the slots I was using. Each time running test to 100% and no errors. Going to start testing second stick in a bit.

    your link doesnt work

edit: found it, it looks like it has enough wattage to get the job done, i'd make sure all your cables are connected correctly, and that the video card is plugged in

Yeah, everything is hooked and ok. This is what event viewer says for when the PC froze. Then it also happened 4 more times but I guess it didn't make anything freeze because I didn't know these other 4 happened until I looked at this.

similar to your issue, likely the same, try using nvidia drivers 186.18 (or whatever it mentions) or disabling the Nvidia Display driver service, as it also says to try

Heh, I had actually just read this after I posted that.

I checked Nvidia for drivers and found there was one from about a week ago. Got that and also stopped the Display Driver Service.

Guess I'll try this out for a bit and see what happens.

Still trying to figure this out.

I am going to be replacing my E7400 with a Q9550 in the next month. Would it be worth changing to ATI instead of Nvidia? I guess I don't know where to go next seeing as both RAM sticks passed in both slots that I was using. =/

This is what I have at the moment:

    Windows 7 Home Premium 6.1.7600 Build 7600
    Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E7400 @ 2.80 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.1)
    ASUS P5Q Deluxe Motherboard
    Intel P45/ICH10R chipset

you would be downgrading if you use ATI over nvidia, despite what you might hear, they do not compare. AMD just makes inferior hardware, period. anyways like i said, try the OLDER versions of the drivers

Ahh, I just was thinking of changing just because of compatability, but meh. I'll just try drivers til something happens I guess.

    Thanks^^
