    New Phone or Stay Cheap?

I have an old Nokia brick phone with a ringtone that I really like on it. I used a relatively newer Blackberry 7100 for a while but without ATT's internet package there's no good way to get a ringtone on it.

What's a good phone that is usable with ATT that I can put my own ringtones on via USB or some other PC connection?

(The ringtone I have isn't available anywhere else that I've found and my Blackberry phone isn't new enough to put stuff on via their software)

iPhone, Blackberry Bold, or if you're rich, the Nokia n900.

First two run around $200, Nokia runs at a staggering $500-600

Also pro tip: unless you jailbreak your phone Apple will want you to pay an extra dollar to make a song your ringtone.

But there is a simple way around this without jailbreaking the phone. So if this should not be a determining factor

There are other Symbian phones from Nokia that aren't as expensive. I've got an E71x, which is 1 cent if you get it with a 2 year contract (I think $230-300 to buy new unlocked). It's a smartphone though, so AT&T will probably force you to get a data plan with it (or at least, get a bigger data plan if you do get one). It has regular wireless, plus USB connectivity, plus micro-SD to get data on it as well though.

That's what my brother, who manages a Wireless Jungle, suggested to me (though in part 'cause he figured I'd like a smartphone).

May just want to walk into an AT&T store or something and ask 'em, even if you don't buy anything.

You can use itunes to manipulate it to make custom ring tones with mp3's. Simple to do, just a bunch of steps.
