Yep yep. Friend recommeneded MAG to me, didn't know it was free open beta atm. Downloading it now, any reviews on that? Just by how he's described it, it sounds pretty awesome. Playing commander sounds like it'd be an RTS while lower you'd be playing an FPS, sounds well thought out.

I didn't recommend MAG because you asked for titles you may have missed in the past, but MAG is a lot of fun if you like squad based shooters/clan based. Think SOCOM, but an FPS, and 200x the scale. I've been in the private beta for a few months now and while the beta is limited, I still had fun. The graphics aren't Killzone 2 quality, but having 256 people on one map I can see why. The lag is surprisingly minimal too. If you are playing this with friends on the same PMC it'll be a lot more fun for you because randoms in your squad not supporting eachother/going commando and doing whatever the fuck they want is a sure way to grow bored with the game.

Once you unlock higher levels you'll gain the ability to apply for higher positions in battles. If I remember it goes (from lowest to highest) Squad Member > Squad Leader > Platoon Leader > Officer In Charge.

Exclusives you'll probably want to look out for this year:
    MAG
    White Knight Chronicles
    3D Dot Game Heroes
    Yakuza 3
    Gran Turismo 5
    God of War 3
    The Last Guardian
    Heavy Rain

I'll add FF XIII to shojin's list due to the fact the PS3 version wont be compressed and is the lead platform for 13.

Yup ill be getting 13 on ps3 also, I think id buy more PS3 games that are on both systems if the PS3 had a better point system, I don't care about achievements but it's fun to unlock them.

On topic, whats the best RPG on the PS3 right now, like old school turn based.

Edit: I'm like brand new to PS online. I see in the store that it sells PSP games. Can I buy those and play them on the PS3? The reason I ask is because I really want the new Lunar but dont want to buy a PSP.

You cant play PSP games on the PS3(would be amazing if you could but would make nopoint in buying a PSP pretty much)

To answer the prior question, I really liked Eternal Sonata, it has old school turn based with action elements mixed it but chances are you've played this due to owning an xbox prior. My second reccomendation would be Disgaea 3, its an old school tactical rpg.

I really cant think of but one next gen RPG that is truely pure turned base which is Lost Oddyssey and thats pushing it.

Valkyria Chronicles is a turn based SRPG. Dunno if Cross Edge is but that didn't get too well received by critics

also I would give my left nut for an oldschool console RPG, either in the FF or DQ series. Or a new Chrono game

I really hate dipping into genres and all of that shit, but the game is played on a map and isnt something I would consider an "old school" rpg, which is what he was asking, while it is really a good game, I wouldnt consider it to fit that criteria.

But Ron if you like SRPG's at all, play Valkyria Chronicles, it really is a good game.

Like I mean most games are linear and that's fine but everything felt like a straight line and even though theres a big world to explore there wasn't much side stuff. There was a shiny thing in a tree I tried to get for like half an hour but after that point I said fuck it. The storyline I didn't care for and super predictable. The shooting was kind of lame and the stealth was meh. Demonssssouls on the other hand is amazing.
Although I did beat Uncharted 2, I practically had to force myself to do so. It's pretty difficult toward the end of the game and to be honest, it's not really that fun. The visuals and dialogue were the most outstanding features. The story was decent. Gameplay was subpar and it had a half assed melee combat system and a half assed shooting system. I felt like I was the only person who didn't think Uncharted 2 was a gift from God.

Uncharted 2 wasn't difficult at all, even on crushing. Uncharted 1 crushing mode on the other hand was all sorts of annoying.

Warming car up freezing balls outside, I haven't liked a MG game since the first one for the PS2. Loved the PS1 version but after "Sons of Liberty"? couldn't stand them the story jumped around like a bad car crash, most of the time JP's can tell good story's but the MG series imo are not good examples.

The melee and shooting were fully assed, but they weren't standout at all. Both worked and there isn't any problems with them really. Uncharted 2 is hardly the best of all time, but what it does manage is amazing set piece after another amazing set piece. Despite the actual gameplay being pretty average, it does manage to make everything feel pretty epic.

Though I do agree, the end parts of the game are pretty ridiculous, especially that first encounter before getting the bowgun.

Question to people that hated Uncharted 2, did you even play the first one? Sounds like you guys didn't.

Yeah the end of 1 got pretty ridiculous. Haven't played 2 yet but it's my top priority game from lovefilm! Really looking forward to it.

In terms of what's been suggested, I'd pretty much agree with everything so far. I love the PixelJunk games, and Wipeout HD is amazingly fun.
