I'd hate to sound overly worried, but I do worry about getting a response about the beta app since I haven't received any sort of email yet. Although I did have to sign up to some SE thing and provide the email on there for the app, so hopefully it's working on a different system than their FFXIV newsletter thing is.

The 04-Jan newsletter was mainly a synopsis of the latest updates. I believe they may have added a few extra screen grabs as well. I've had no problems getting each XIV newsletter, but I run my own mail server.

I'm pretty parched for a legitimate "gameplay" screenshot. We have yet to see an official posting of what the game looks like from the player's end, closest we got to were pics from that german game convention that we weren't supposed to have pictures of in the first place lol

I am talking about something official from Square Enix themselves they want to show the public.

Everything we've had so far has been not what they intended for everyone to know about and we still wouldn't know about if people actually followed the "no pictures or videos" rule I think I remember they actually had at that gaming convention. Though admittedly, I did completely forget that there was in game video but I have seen it.

Hmm, I guess I know what you mean. They're always been quite secretive about showing things that are still not completely ready. Looking at the video they showed to the people in Gamescom, it was quite apparent the gameplay wasn't that polished... which made me quite surprised that they would show anything about gameplay at that stage of development.

gameplay videos is what they need to release next. a game can look pretty but if gameplay fails the game fails, and a little crystal clear gameplay video is what i want to see more than anything right now.

As for everything else, if its not officially 100% set in stone, they won't post it or they risk having to go back and correct themselves. Really though a lot of that stuff they probably need beta testers for....

Well, I think gameplay features are exactly the features that aren't 100% set in stone yet =P We wouldn't want to see glitchy gameplay now would we?

i would. so long as they put a disclaimer saying gameplay isn't finished and expect it to be glitchy.

hell id be satisfied with a two hour video of a lalafell running into a wall at this point.

Yeah, well me too, since we can look at the whole thing in a "this is a work in progress" kind of way.

Most people though, especially the ones that are just checking things out on this game, won't be like that I'd guess. They take everything as a fact. If SE says they'll maybe, sometime in the future, implement feature X to the game..

..people would few months later be asking "hey, didn't SE promise that feature X to be implemented in this update/game? Seems like SE lied once again" and "Wow this game sucks now look at the gameplay videos it's so glitchy!"
