Test Prep Tutoring Job

Anyone have experience doing them? I'm looking for a good part time job when I go back to school and the pay for a lot of these jobs is quite attractive.

Pretty much. I used universitytutor.com to post my profile, and checked craigslist and the UCSD job posting board every couple hours for people posting tutoring jobs for the first few months (people usually hire the first resume in their inbox so you have to keep on top of it).

I don't really have to do that now because my network is big enough that jobs come to me instead of me having to go look for them.

I would post a profile now, because traffic is usually the highest around the start of new semesters for high school students (most parents looking for tutors at this age). I gave examples of subjects I tutored, so instead of saying Math/Bio/Chem since that's what my majors involve, I listed x students for AP Calc AB/BC, y students for AP Chem, z students for AP Bio, etc. for every HS course I tutored.

The standard rate is $25 it seems, though I usually end up charging $30-35 by saying that profile is old and I've upped my rates because of some blahblah reason.

Fudge on the GPA/SAT scores if you have you, just keep them believable, is what seems to be the consensus among all the people I know that use it.

Provide a history of your tutoring experience. I listed how I started tutoring in high-school, and the progression of which subjects I added, what time, and why. It pays to be thorough.

Private tutoring ftw. You can make $80/hr if you have the experience/degree, but I made $40/hr easy when I was still a junior in high school.

Protip: for a one-hour session, give him a practice test for 45 minutes and go over the answers for the last 15. Worked for me.
