He's been trying to get me to watch Grandma's Boy for weeks, saying its hilarous. Did I miss something?

Leslie Nilesen's death represents the dying breed of silly humor. The humor that was so foolish and non-sequiteur you couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it all. Mitch Hedberg was the most recent anyone's come these days to thinking stupidity.

The One-Eyed, One-Legged, One-Armed Bandit, Philosopher Football, the Ministry of Silly Walks... All of these moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain...

Toilet humor and slapstick stupidity is all this generation is about. I'm going to miss the days of great stories, great movies, great music, and great comedy. American society is really dumbing itself down just to appeal to stupid people.

Unfortunately you're right. Go back further and look at the dean martin roasts. Those are the TRUE masters of comedy. No toilet humor, no crass stories, just true smart humor. Now look at today's roasts; they're an abomination.

Just putting in my 2 cents, although I've never seen any of Nielsen's movies they are definitely on my list to watch over break now. I can't stand the stupid no-brain humor of this generation, Will Ferrel is NOT funny (with a few, VERY few exceptions). Same goes for Jack Black, etc, etc. I love Holy Grail, although it took me a bit to start to understand British humor, I started watching that stuff when I was 13 and quickly grew accustomed to it, and to enjoying humor that isn't a bunch of fart/drug/poop jokes. Part of the reason I abhor most American cartoons these days too. You can only laugh at toilet humor for so long (if you're so inclined to even start).

The kind of people that don't like Leslie's movies are the same type who watch trash like Panty&Stocking, anything on cartoon network not including all of adult swim. Only shit like Family Guy, Tim and Eric, Steve Brul, how is shit like that funny? Serious question.

I will be the saddest person in the world when Mel Brooks dies, without a doubt. I will sit in my house all day watching Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, History of the World Part 1, Dracula Dead and Loving It(although I'm redownloading this to watch it in memory of Leslie) and Robin Hood Men in Tights.

I don't even want to think of the day Stephen Fry is no longer with us ;o; I also like Eddie Izzard too but like Monty Python, some people don't get his humor and just think of him as the comedian in a dress.
