    Wii Ware Recommendations

    Got any?

I haven't bought any yet but am thinking I'll get Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, and the remake of Rainbow Islands. I just about died when I found out there was a Rainbow Islands remake for the Wii (and it doesn't use motion controls to draw rainbows, thank god).

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King isn't too bad for a WiiWare game, but it may get boring fast because how slow it can be.
Plus it also has some DLC once you buy it, but of course they don't come free.

The best suggestion I can give to you tho is, if you have the means, to just softmod your Wii and DL/install a bunch of them, and if really you do like them, buy them off the shop channel (or don't!).

I might end up doing that eventually, but I will admit, I'm pretty intimidated by the complexity of it. It's not like just buying a cyclo, all the instructions for Wii Homebrew that I've read seem a lot more complicated and a bit scary lol.

After Years is really not worth the price tag, especially considering the full amount you have to spend just to get the *entire* game, which in all seriousness feels like a rom-hacked version of FFIV, but with a crazy encounter rate to make it feel long.

Otherwise, there hasn't been anything else on the store that interested me enough to try out.

Megaman 9, good for a few hours of classic controller throwing fun (the first run through anyway).

Also do a search for "Wiibrew" on you favorite search engine to find how to install soft mods easy enough. (I use it for the emulators they have for the Wii).

Check out the demos section of the shop first of all. The demos of Pokemon Rumble and Bit.Trip are better than the full versions for me because they are fun for only a short amount of time. The demos should be coming down in a couple weeks, so get them soon.

Lost Winds (2 is better than 1) is a nice platformer, Final Fantasy CC: My Life as a Darklord is a nice tower defense game (and without DLC, it's quite challenging, in a good way), World of Goo is a nice puzzle game, Orbient is a nice strategic movement game (very hard and very satisfying). That's all I've got, for everything else check this out: http://vsrecommendedgames.wikia.com/wiki/Wii#The_List_2

If you want a neat puzzle/adventure game, Lit is really really cool. It's basically a puzzle game involving light, breaking windows and turning on lamps to get from one side of a room to another.

You'd probably really like FFCC: My Life as King. It's a sim game for the most part, but it gets really addictive if you can get past the first hour or two.

Oh and LostWinds is really fantastic, World of Goo is alright but Id just get it for PC if anything. Crystal Defenders is fun as well if you like tower defense.

edit: here's a video of Stage 1 for Lit, to get an idea of what it's like

Lit looks cool, thanks for the recommendations!

I'll probably get Mega Man 9 too, at some point.

If you like point & click adventure games Tales of Monkey Island is good, but I'd recommend playing it on PC over the Wii.

Bubble Bobble Extreme(?) is the last Wii Ware title I bought. Although I'm a Bubble Bobble fanatic so I don't REALLY know if it was worth the money spent or not. That being said I love playing 3 player Bubble Bobble.

Swords and Soldiers is a great RTS on WiiWare.

LostWinds 1 and 2 as mentioned above are great.

All three BIT.TRIP games are fantastic. (BEAT has a demo available)

Pokemon Rumble is a fun (really long) beat-em-up. Also has a demo.

I have heard nothing but good things about Castlevania The Adventure Rebirth.

NyxQuest is a great platformer in a style similar to LostWinds.

I can personally attest to Megaman 9 and LostWinds. Haven't played LostWinds 2 though, didn't even know there was one. LostWinds itself is hella short though, after I beat it I never gave it another play either

I think I have every damn Wii game and Wii Ware game in existance, and I would have to say the only ones even worth mentioning whatsoever are:

    Megaman 9
    Lost Winds
    Lost Winds 2
    Bonzai Barber (lol)
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Dark Lord
Final Fantasy IV: The After Years
    Final Fantasy Crystal Defenders R1
    Final Fantasy Crystal Defenders R2
    Bit Trip Beat
    Bit Trip Void
    Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth

And, maybe a few other "ReBirth" games as they generally play as a slightly graphically updated version of their 8~16bit ancestor.

Necroing this topic up to say that Blaster Master: Overdrive came out this week, and it is awesome.

It is a reimagining of the original Blaster Master, now with a lot more Metroidvania-ing.
