For those who care, Blackberry or iPhone?

I have BB (world) because work makes me have one. Good for emails. Ok for browsing, shit for anything else. I don't think it even has a camera.

Download Bolt browser for Blackberry, gives full websites. It has limitations, but it's slick.

I am a mac user so everyone who has a mac is telling me to get an iphone, simply because of how they're so compatible. Yet realistically im going to be using my phone for calling, texting and internet. It will be for personal use, nothing to do with a business.

Also, is the bold better than the curve? Everyone seems to recommend the bold if they recommend a blackberry, was just wondering why?

I had a curve (actually, I had 4), and I hated it (*them, they all went bad within a month or two) with a passion. Upgraded to an 8800, which I then upgraded to an iPhone.

If there's no business usee, you're doing a disservice to yourself getting a blackberry.

Bold is the Curve on acid. Curve had no wi-fi, also the camera is so much better.

Edit: I'm on VZW, they have the Tour which is the Bold basically, but my gf has a Bold and loves it.

She did have a iPhone before the Blackberry. She said the iPhone was fun but it has terrible battery life and can be annoying to use when driving (she has a iPod touch now). A friend has a iPhone and swears by it. He said he can't text and drive but uses a bluetooth earpiece all the time. He has complained about battery life, he got some holdster that chages it when the phone is in it.

Hmm most people really are one or the other. I understand that the iphone is probably much more useful personally, not to mention alot more customizable. I just think the lack of qwerty would annoy me. I use the samsung soul at the moment, has a touch pad in the middle and i get along with it pretty well so the transition to a whole touch phone wouldn't be to bad.

Seems its more down to the iphone or the bold now.

I used an old school Blackberry then an iPhone. I enjoy the iPhone. I think typing would be easier with a keyboard, but it's not as bad as it first seems. It's really good for playing games or browsing the web. I don't do much typing with my phone so it works for me.

What are the basics like for an iphone? Do they work smoothly? I've used both iphone browser and BB, the thing that puts me off the iphones browser is the lack of a mouse. I thought it was really useful being able to see where you were on a page and how it was so similar to a pc browser?

Also everyone i know with a BB raves about how good BBM is. Is there an alternative for the iphone?

Lastly, does anyone install custom themes onto their iphone? Ive just been going through DeviantART and there's some stunning themes on there, but apprently require Jailbreak and Summerboard?

Iphone has every messaging system you could possibly imagine. BBM is only good for messaging others with blackberrys.

Also, the black berry browser is the worst piece of trash browser I've ever used. I downloaded opera for it, but even that wasn't that great. Never had any issues with the iphone browser. I probably prefer the iphone scrolling over blackberry simply for the fact that my 8800 ball was black as hell from it collecting dirt over the time I used it.

Well it is confirmed they are getting it, just not as early as t-mobile.

While the Nexus One for Verizon won't be available until the Spring of 2010, when ordering a Nexus One, when you continue through to the carrier selection process, if lists the Motorola Droid as an alternative for those who can't wait for the Verizon Nexus One.

Gonna slightly hijack this thread to ask a question.

I'm on AT&T and looking into upgrading my and my wife's phone. (We are still rocking RAZRs lol) And I think we are looking at both getting Blackberries. I know you have to opt into the Blackberry data plan, but my question is the fee "shared"? We have a family talk plan and I'm just really wondering is the data fee on a per plan or per phone basis? Like I think the cheapest data plan is 30/month. So would I be looking at $30/month or $60/month in data fees?

If any of you "Family Blackberries" could shed some light here for me I'd appreciate it!

Data plans are pretty much always per-phone.

And to OP: I'm not an Apple fanboi. I respect that most Apple products have their place, but for the most part are overpriced, overengineered, underperforming junk. The iPhone is the first and only thing with that stupid fruit on it that completely lives up to expectations for me.

Picked up a 32GB 3GS over the summer, and really my only gripes are battery life and inconsistency of landscape mode support in 3rd party apps. It is just so user-friendly and intuitive compared to old-school cellphones and more traditional smartphones (I use a Blackjack 2 for work, and have pretty extensively played with co-workers' Blackberries, which my company started to support after I got my current phone).

It's still not perfect for enterprise use, but as a personal phone, nothing even comes close in terms of just daily usability and availability of useful apps. I understand the tactile keyboard gripes a lot of people have, but I think they make it out to be a bigger deal than it really is. Landscape keyboard (when available) makes a huge difference. I'm still not quite as fast or accurate on the touchscreen keyboard as with a traditional one, but the gap is small, and it's an extremely worthwhile trade-off for form factor and lack of sliding crap that can break.

Next time it breaks I am going to make them send me the track pad instead of the ball.

I just recently canceled my Iphone and got a droid.

Jailbreaking the Iphone is only thing that kept me from dropping ATT much earlier. My biggest complaint besides the shitty network (couldn't get a fucking signal in my own house) is how bland the non-jailbroken phones are. Sure its simple and user friendly but staring at the same layout and not even being able to change the goddamn wallpaper drove me insane. Jailbreaking the phone solves this problem however I had issues were the themes would actually bog down the phone. Just opening the Ipod was a chore.

I can't comment on the BB.
