I'm playing it on my PS2.
It was cheaper to buy an AR Max and take advantage of the PS2's independence exploit to load FCMB on my memory card than it would have been to buy the game... so it was worth it for me!

On a PS2 emulator, of course. You just need quite a high end PC to run it well enough.. My average comp can run it at like 15 fps, but that's not good enough >_>..

I've played FF12 over at least 5 times now, and working on my sixth. Its a very fun game if you take the time to do everything the game has to offer. Also, magick if used properly, is very powerful. My Penelo is set to spam the fuck out of it, and in most situations, she gets most of her MP back, which is winsauce.

I stopped playing right before the Pharos because I didn't want to get into The Seer/Yiazmat just yet. I wanted to go ahead and play through FFX/FFX-2 again D:. I feel kinda bad because I rushed through FFX and only got 3 celestial weapons before starting FFX-2, but oh wells.

Pretty much fallen behind on emulation since anything after the SNES and Genesis era seemed buggy when I first looked to into 'em way back when. So, like another poster, I'm kinda surprised there's supposedly a good PS2 emulator out there. Would like to believe my PC is sturdy enough to run it, too.

Though, I'm curious about this game more specifically. I've played XII, so I know the general scoop, but haven't really followed any FF of the recent FF "reduxes" like X:I and this one. I peeked at that link briefly and I guess it has a patcher, but are there any other steps to the process? They made it sound like I need XII(US) and a copy of the Zodiac version, but that could've just been me misinterpreting how they cut time on translating.

That's true. You need both the US version of the game and the Zodiac to create a translated iso of the game.

I use Pcsx2, but it takes a lot of configuration to fix the sound/remove lag and all that jazz. Be warned, this is not as smooth as Snes emulators.

Yeah, I'm expecting some trial and error, and I'm not even sure if my USB adapter for my PS2 controller will get detected by whatever, but I guess I'm looking for as painless a process as possible. Was thinking about a XII replay, anyway.

As for the emulator you don't have any other choice than pcsx2
I recommend going on their forums and reading the guides how to configure the emulator, especially since there are topics with hints for specific games.

FFXII was a good game. I didn't really like the battle system. Gambits were a good idea but the implementation could have been much better, like instead of buying gambits they should probably have been unlocked naturally as the game progressed ....

I hope FF13 is turn based where you control ALL your characters and it "pauses"... I still cannot tell if the other characters are compuer or "gambit" controlled or if if you control them all manually like the other turn based FF games excluding ff12.

It's not. You only control one character and the battle is using a form of ATB. The other characters are A.I controlled - no gambits, but you have optimas which somehow limits/specifies what actions will the character perfom.
