Bypassing Win 7 Media Centre's need for IR hardware
I'm trying to set up my tv tuner card to work under Windows 7, but I don't have an "IR blaster".
Physical setup goes goes: Wall socket -> Set top box -> Composite in on TV Tuner -> PC.
It works fine on the setup and I can see it working!

but then it asks me about IR hardware ... which I don't have nor do I want (I usually just use the remote that came with the set top box and I'm fine with that).

Is there any way to get around this?
TIA for any help

Unfortunately you can't because without an IR receiver there'd be no way for WMC to change the channels on the box. The only way to get around this is to drop the composite connection and plug a coax cable directly into the tuner card.

Urgh. That's so lame
Anyone recommend other software that will do what I want? I use elgato eyetv on my mac, surely there must be something that will do this sort of thing on windows!

The only other thing I can think of (I fooled with this but didn't like it) is to set it up as an antenna signal, so whatever the set top box is transmitting will always appear as channel 3 or 4 on the computer. Obviously this means you can't use the guide and it didn't work well for me, but I guess you can give it a shot too.

same issue with my tv tuner, I see it working and hear audio and everything, but even with my IR blaster it doesn't let me pass the step you get to,
but the remote works and controls media center even

Does DScaler work under Windows 7 with your TV card?
