Well, his reasoning are his 175 staff needs jerb too.
Then again, if they were any part of his show, I doubt they deserve to keep working

Well I know I definitely changed the channel every time the Jay Leno show came on.
Hope Conan gets something of his own on another network.
They had 5 years to look for other work and even when the 10pm thing came along, everyone knew the odds of that show lasting were 50/50 at best. I just can't sympathize with someone who takes another person's lifelong dream from them.
I watched some of that interview. He kinda had some good points ( the guy is a fucking sell out now tho no doubt about it) but like he said Conan and Him were #1 in their time slots and when the NBC executives ( yes he blamed it all on them) changed it up his show he said was down 14% and Conans show was down fucking 49% gotta change shit back or try something else
If Jay's new show had actually been funny none of this would have happened.
Conan got screwed out of his dream, but I'm sure the $32 million parting gift ought to ease the blow.
Of course the clear winner in this mess is Letterman. Sure Conan got the big payoff but he's lost his dream gig.
But I think it was said best in the first late shift movie. He never was inheriting his dream job, which was the Tonight Show with Carson. He got the Tonight Show with Leno which was much different and regardless Conan had his own twist as well, something that will be pretty much the same everywhere he goes. Just like Letterman pretty much stayed the same when he made the move.
Leno saying the ratings for the Tonight Show are what ruined the franchise is completely bullshit when his show played a part in cannibalizing said ratings.
There's absolutely no way Leno will retain the ratings he used to have when he goes back to the Tonight Show. This whole fiasco lost him and the network a lot of viewers. They aren't going to magically go back to their previous ratings come March.
I watched Leno because I was too lazy to change the channel before Conan.
For as much contempt as I have for Leno, I seriously doubt this.
Leno's inoffensive brain-dead milquetoast bullshit hour has a lot of fans, even now. Shoving him back at 11:30 will likely draw both the guests and the viewers back eventually. I really hope to be wrong though.
The problem comes in when 3 years from now Leno gets bored with The Tonight Show again and decides to re-retire. What the hell is the network going to do then? The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon?
Some fans will come back but I don't think he can match the ratings of the last few years
It's probably going to come down to what his Tonight Show fans were doing during these past 7 months. If they've become accustom to tuning into something else at 11:30 they probably won't come back, but that doesn't really have anything to do with how he acted during this whole mess.
Jay Leno can lick my unwiped buttcrack.
