    Ar Tonelico III

    http://www.videogamesblogger.com/wp-...ox-artwork.jpg

So the Ar Tonelico series is an.. interesting series.. But as long as you can grasp that, theres a good story, with a nice little system, with great music. Yes it is mainly a love story, but the base story is also good. The music is another good reason to play, as well with all the side plots and storys.

Ive enjoyed the first two installments, and hoping III will be just as good. One thing ive noticed with III so far is that the changed the '2D Pixel' stuff, to a .hackGU look. I love me some pixels.. but I guess if theyre able to pull it off, more power to them. I guess it's their excuse to release on PS3 instead of PS2.

    Anyway, first two trailers:

Oh and yeah, the newest addition to the female team:

Voiced by the actress who does Pikachu~

AR3 will be released this month in JP, and hopfully NISA will announce the NA release not to far down the road.

    Thoughts?

Well I raged the first time I saw they switched to 3D :< But oh well, liked the series too much to make this get in the way. I still have the second one waiting to be finished, but I hope this will get released in English someday too, so we can play and enjoy it

It is a specific series, but the music is really nice, and it has this something that that makes you play it even though you know the game has a lot of flaws.

    From RPGFan:

Bandai Namco Games and Gust have updated the official website for their PlayStation 3-based RPG Ar tonelico 3. Today's update introduces the Hymma, which are key to gaining access to powerful song magic. Hymma are manifestations of the heroines' thoughts. They can be obtained during events in dive mode. Each spirit is assigned a Syncro Level from 1 to 4. Pairing a level 4 Hymma with a heroine will result in more powerful song magic. The problem is that the higher the level, the more difficult it is to make the heroine and the Hymma work together. Fortunately, the developers have come up with the following brilliant solution: To make the combination work, the heroine has to take off her clothes, since they are said to disturb the Hymma. Unfortunately, the girls need to be persuaded to undress. To get your way, you can "bribe" them by offering them items they might like.
Lol. Each time they come up with a brilliant idea

I love this series, it's just so restrained that I think it's hilarious. It's a series screaming to be an H-game, but holds itself back, instead they fill the game with as much sexual innuendo as possible(innuendo being a field I have extensive interest in)...straight down to the titles... MetaPHALLICa anyone?

I find the "just the tip" philosophy simply hilarious.

Hmm, do the games relate to each other in anyway? I'd like to try them out, but these games are never usually easy to find. And usually if I'm importing I have to find a game I really want.

Yes and no, outside of 1 there's no (edit for clarity) MAJOR character re-appearances in 2 from 1, but they all take part in the same world.

Way they've been presenting it, there's 3? major regions, each one being a different game. So I imagine they're building up to the 4th game which will have all the cross-over and results from the first 3.

So until then, they're mostly independent games with a handful of references to the others.

    Edit:

Also Rosenqueen still has the games for sale for $20-$30, it's only the boxed editions that are rare and have large values as collector pieces.

Well, there are character appearances from I in II (and I believe II in I too), just no major importance, just some small cameos. Spica plays her usual role, and most of the cast from ARI do make a cameo in one way or another.

But as far as major direct story connections, none that I noticed, however the lore is similiar in both games, and I assume in the third as well. It helps to play I to better understand II, but I dont think it's needed story wise. You could play them backwards and be fine id think.

    Uhh..

    Spoiler: show
Correct me if I'm wrong, but on the note of character appearances from I in II, isn't Jacquli in actuality Mir?

As far as the game itself goes, idk. They keep making the girls look younger and younger and it's just not appealing to me. On top of that, I bought AT2 out of obligation because I won one of those beach towels that NISA did as a promotion contest and was fairly thoroughly disappointed with the job they did in terms of localizing, translation and bug testing.

Hmm, so she is. Either forgot, or never realised. Bit of a break btwn the two games, and been awhile since I finished both.

    And youre the bastard who took my towel ;-;

I think I enjoied I more than II.. but again, I dont recall. 1 felt like a whole new game, which is was, and II kind of just added to it, but I cant say I didnt like II, though I did find myself jamming through text faster.

lol, I still have the towel in the plastic bag they sent it in, I didn't actually want it to begin with and it's a pretty shitty towel. It's got a terribly rough surface, although the artwork is actually stitched in, and not just a shitty iron-on transfer, which kind of surprised me.

Wow, that's quite nice. And yeah, half the reason I buy NISA games is because of the stuff they throw in with it.

I liked 2 more myself...only thing I didn't like was the lopsided gap between character arc choices... I mean...who would REALLY choose Luca over Cloche?

    Spoiler: show

You can choose the smoking hot queenish character with lots of power...or...

The girl who betrayed you; readily admitting to your face she was only using you...is the mentally unstable poster child for "damaged goods"...and works as what in the setting is the equivalent to a prostitute?

In the one scenario you end up essentially being King...in the other your dick falls off from AIDS.

    Seriously lol.

I don't know why I didn't notice this post earlier but holy shit rofl. That is the best summary of the character arc choice ever.

    http://kotaku.com/5446987/ar-tonelic...undressing-too
With all that female underwear in upcoming Japanese title Ar tonelico III, one might get the idea that the game is unfair. There's more to life than scantily clad women. There are scantily clad men, for example.

The PS3 title features men that, like the women, end up in their skimpies. One male character's drawers of choice appears to be the fundoshi, the traditional Japanese undergarment.

Ar tonelico III has the option of asking female characters to remove their clothes (and males, too!). Since this is a PS3 title and not a personal computer game, don't expect nudity. Expect underwear.

Doesn't count when the men look like flat chested women to begin with.
