Xbox360 Graphics question

So, lately my console will randomly 'lock-up' graphically after a couple minutes or sometimes a bit longer. I tend to get broken lines down the screen in a vertical fashion whereas the audio continues for a minute or so before finally all locking up, forcing me to restart from the console itself.

I've seen the RRoD (3 rings) once out of probably 20 attempts at turning on the console. So I suppose my question is should I try to send it in for warranty work on the 3 ring or would it be something else I would need to screw with?

I fix 360s for my friend. When you get the 3 red lights there is now question about it, something is wrong. I've seen it where the xbox gets it one time and then it gradually gets worse. Happening more and more. Or you will get it every time. In my opinion I would just send it in. My buddy just sent his in and took a little over 3 weeks to get it back.

That sounds like it could be overheating, I had that happen to me. Do you get a disc read error with that as well?

It is def overheating and a sign your 360 is about to crap out. Mine did exactly what you are describing one day. I unplugged everything and left it for a day, worked for another month until it happened again. A few reboots later and it was completely shot, wouldn't even load the initial Xbox screen. So you might as well send in for the shipping label which will come in a few days, and drop it off somewhere that ships UPS.

Bottom line, if you get the RRoD of once, and its not from hardware not being plugged in all the way, it's going to happen again and eventually fail completely. Mine is actually in for service as we speak, hoping to get it back in a week or so. Good luck.
