Twinking about - on low level exp

So I decided to try out a Templar a couple of days ago, and now she's almost lvl 18.

I invested a measily 100k kinah from my main.

When starting out in Ishalgen, I took two things into consideration:

    - Level 9 to 10 is free, but additional exp is cut off after the Ascension quest
    - Low level gathering and crafting exp are quite high

The basic idea was staying a couple of levels ahead of the main quest line level and always grabbing all quests in a new area at once and turning them in a few minutes later. =)

Starting out with gathering very soon as I saw the first Azpha and killing the odd couple of mobs to get a quick level up once in the while, I never had to grind many mobs and hit lvl 9 before I even started the quest "Where's Rae?". Then did the Ascension and after doing the stuff at the High Priest Balder, I went straight to the crafting area.

    Since it's a Templar, I took Armorsmithing.

With an Amorsmithing skill of 70, I was level 11.5. Without having been to Altgard at all.

Finishing all Ishalgen quests from there was a breeze.

I finally went to Altgard, did the quests around the fortress and then started gathering Iron Ore, eventually dinged into 12.

    Now to make some armor.

Back to Pandemonium, I learned Weaponsmithing.

Now, if you refine all your Iron Ore using Weaponsmithing, it's lots more of free exp.

I guess at this stage, you could even buy lots of Ore from the broker and get to level 14 or something.

With all the materials from the workorders and gathering and the receipes from the NPC, I ended up with a green Steel Plate set at level 13.

At that level, the Altgard questline becomes a joke until you reach the black claw village.

I finished everything from Altgard via Basfelt Village to The Trader's Berth (including the stupid three rings quest) in two evenings.

    tl;dr

If you start up a twink, give him 100k. Get gathering in Ishalgen up to ~30 as soon as possible. Stop doing quests there and do Ascension at lvl 9 as soon as possible, then craft like there's no tomorrow at level 10 until you reach 12, then Altgard becomes a joke.

Did you do that during double exp weekend? I don't see how only some killing and gathering up to 30 can get you to level 9 normally.

Sounds slower than grinding, and potentially more boring tbh lol

I usually get to lv3 as soon as I get to ishgalen using azpha getting high enough to gather iron for later, that does work well, but grinding there is definitely faster imo. I just can't skip quests because my ocd says maybe there will be a prereq for something later >.>. Crafting to 150 or so is a good way to get a few levels in the teens and make altgard easymode.

Frankly, nowadays I just go straight to crafting and skip questing and grinding altogether. It's a LOT faster to get Kinah on your main and just craft only with the alt. Gets boring at times, but hey, it's AFKable XP.

With that, Alchemy and Tailoring comes to mind. Get tons of Lesser Elemental Stones or Thin Rawhide, pay 4k to learn lvl 1, craft 1000 Thin Leather or Lesser Elemental Water (or whatever that is, I don't do Alchemy), watch a movie meanwhile and you should get your craft to at least 41 with the lowest level receipe.

    1000 x 90 exp = 90000 exp, that's pretty much for a lvl 10.

You'd be out of skillup range after about 150 or so crafts on the level 1 item, and would also gain no EXP as a result. 1000 crafts is doable on the 300+ recipes though, but would hurt your wallet quite a bit.

I got 10-16 from 1-199 alchemy w/o double exp so it's nice if your lazy. You can definitely get more from there on out.

Greater running/wind/courage scrolls (380) will give you exp forever if you don't attempt expert, sell for a small profit, and give a ton of exp.

How much are you getting each? Does it shoot up a lot at lvl 300-399 or does it constantly increase just like before?

It's like 3200 per craft on a 380 item if i remember correctly. Double EXP and lodas amulets boost it as well.

I thought Lodas only gave XP for killing creatures?

The description says it's just for killing stuff, but it does give you +20% to crafting/gathering EXP as well.
