External TV Card Problems

Got a new external TV tuner card from Hauppauge for xmas recently, and finally got around to hooking it up to my PC. WinTV HVR1950. Im running Windows XP.

Been playing Dragon Quest VIII, but Im running into issues with DScaler and my PS2. Using S-Video, Composite, or Component Cables dont matter but the picture will freeze anywhere between 1 second and 20 minutes after turning DScaler on. Sound keeps going no problems, but the picture hangs.

Ive tried all the little tweaks found on some other tech forums. I dont have Norton AV and Ive disabled/renamed Microsoft Messenger's exe. Don't run Trillian. But the picture still hangs. Updated drivers (to my knowledge) and have reinstalled DScaler 3 times now...so its up to date.

Any ideas? Would like to sit back in my chair without having to reach for my mouse every 5 mins.

DScaler is a verrrryyy heafty application, if youre pc isnt up to snuff, understandable that you have that issue. Id try lowering it's options to the lowest as possible and see how that works. You should be able to detemine your issues from that.

If nothing seems to work youll have better luck at the DScaler forums.

I ran Aion without problems on high settings. Doesn't seem like DScaler's resources would be a problem, but ill try that. Thanks.
