Lol. How can you even say that a fourth shadow isn't an advantage?
NIN can solo a plethora of things, but a lot of those solos can also be done NIN/DNC meleeing (i.e, shit like Charybdis and Fenrir). There's a taru (forgot his name) that has solo'd shit on his NIN using elemental wheel. I'm sure someone knows who he is.
You're probably thinking of Lemming.
It's not hard :/ it's just a really long drawn out RDM kite solo basically.
poisoned cactrot to death as nin/rdm lol
For OP:
Base damage for:
Ni Wheel: 77
San Wheel: 90
Modifiers: INT1
Can use this to calculate your damage on the wheel if you have the mob's INT. I tried finding this info on KI/Alla/BG a long time ago but never saw it so I tested it myself.
The key thing here is that your base damage is relatively low and your INT modifier is only 1, so you need to stack INT a whole lot to see good results. But doing so also means you lose out on MACC and Skill for resists. Because of this, if you want to look for solos that favor NIN using the elemental wheel, try to pick targets with low base resist and low INT. Holy Cow would be a nice example.
For solo videos of NIN, try looking up Lemming or Gold (did the true Ash Dragon solo).
Also, for the solo debate in general, the key is to be first, not to necessarily play the job that just happens to be able to do the most solos imo. If you don't just solo for kicks, but to "show off", you basically are looking for the "wow factor". Kind of lose that when someone else already did it and possibly even handed you the strat. So I like people that want to at least try new things - even if it's an old solo on a new job. For me personally, the instant someone else solos it on that job, or on a different job using a nearly identical strategy, then me soloing it loses significant value and difficulty.
Gold is Jval on myguba but it seems the site was revamped and all the videos were lost.![]()
So long as the topic remains "stuff you'd have to use the ele wheel on." But you can't generalize to melee solos. An RDM spends more time casting shadows and buffs; Bio/Poison/nukes/the few swings in between usually don't keep pace with A-class DD weapons. Below are just NMs I know of where NINs have a distinct advantage. What isn't listed is any regular mob within timed (instanced) events. Any RDM can tell you they're not in the running for SE Apollyon.
Code:solo setup the mob reason you don't use an RDM nin/??? Ash Dragon casting magic = death nin/thf Behemoth bad mix of evasion, HP, timer nin/dnc Adamantoise can't sleep half the agro/mpk risk nin/dnc Brigandish Blade can't wear the weapon to kill it nin/dnc Zoraal Ja's Pkuucha mpk risk
Way to take my minor trolling to heart, guyz.
this thread is awesome
i like how the only use of nin is doing things nobody cares about
Also because Pchan is a moron.
1.) I find solo interesting, RDM does it better than NIN. Regardless, I wasn't being completely serious but this is still true.
2.) I have almost no friends/would rather not waste someone's time anyways.
3.) What the fuck are you on about with Ix'drk? Seriously, shut the fuck up.
Fucking France, I've personally seen about 5 intelligent people come out of that country. Shit's terrible.
And I'm keeping the ENM shit for my sig so the rest of you can fuck off.
cool bro and keep wasting your time in ENMs w. unless its 100% drop no ENM has a good time/money ratio. 50k/hour spent is the absolute minimum for me because its what you get with nashmau fishing, and its already bad.
Also, sigin pchan is only fun the first time, the picture in your sig is actually awsome too.
You just described most of FFXI. With people pumping out relic weapons on 6-month-old accounts, collecting full Salvage gear in even less, and even Pandemonium Warden getting beaten from time to time, what is there left that anyone cares about? ... Synergy?!
Not that the response this thread and others like it has done anything to improve the nature of the community. "Fuck Ninja, just level Red Mage." "Fuck Ranger, just level Samurai." Everything has had all the fun distilled out of it in the name of absolute efficiency, possibly because the game is so unpleasant to play anymore that being really efficient at content that was boring 6 years ago is the only way to maintain one's flagging interest.
Either way, to the subject of the thread, elemental wheel is a tool that lost its flavor and usefulness a long time ago, assuming it was ever really meaningful at 75 (I don't remember a time when this was the case). It's largely a leveling tool, sadly.
IT'S GOOD FOR BALLISTA YOU BITCHES!
ENM keeps up buffer (if you don't die to everything) and is, all things considered, a fairly decent amount of base income and it takes nowhere near 3hrs. Also, considering that I do it with 2 characters at once, I found it amusing to say it's a "waste of time".
