AC1-3 Controls were terrible, and I played AC1-3. What nexus introduced was great. The biggest thing about AC4/ACFA is was knowing how to build your mech for infinite boost/speed and then learning how to control it. I've won several matches 3v1 and even a few battle royales with 4-5 people trying to chase me.

Lahire-style body with the spread bazooka in the left hand with the kamal slug gun on the right shoulder = 4-hit kills on most all Nexts - provided you have 1000 lock speed and at least 80 weapon accuracy. Makes getting SS rank a breeze on most all Next on Next missions.

Not so good online, though, what with all the lag. Most people just use combination of An51 rifles and various assault rifles and shoulder dance all day.

Still good shit, though. After getting SS rank and playing online, I'm hyped about the new game. I just hope they fix the AA and slowdown issues on the PS3. It frustrated me that the 360 had very little slowdown and yet the PS3 did.

Should just release that shit on PC.

I personally did the last SS mission 5v1 nexts on 1.0 Regs. Saleen Missles + Spread Bazooka = 5 dead nexts. Online for the longest time was playing against warpspeed bladers. Most people can't handle being beaned from 2km away though, so that was fun playing quad sniper vs blader or AR players.

    @Korietsu

For lag bladers, I have 2 setups. One is a counter sniper with a sniper rifle + hand rocket launcher (100 rockets with 11k damage and a .5 second reload for up-close rushers) with that big-ass sniper cannon slung over the shoulder and a long range radar.

The second, favored setup is simply a wall of missles with the wheeling1, the proximity missles and shoulder musking 64 missle salvos, chained together from midrange. Launch the wheeling first, and then turn on the shoulders and fire the second barrage once they've QBed to the side. I whip out dual AN51's and pepper them from midrange while they are trying to dance the missle dance, and go from there.

I admit, though. Lag shields are annoying as hell online. I tend to have to use either missles or guns with a high velocity to penetrate the lag shield.

The Current regs hit bladers hard, although admittedly, I've stopped playing. Not fun when it takes 35 min to find a match that's stable enough to connect to.

True enough. Hopefully the next one has a more stable online experience.

This is very pleasing news. Now all I need is another Ace Combat and I'll be set for a long time.

I am actually quite satisfied with AC4 and AC4A control. Well maybe because I did not play the old AC games for more than 4 years. After struggling getting all S ranks (on hard of course) especially on the 5v1 mission, I think I'm pretty good at handling the control scheme

Ive played every AC save for Ninebreaker and AC4, and I've never had a problem with the controls. Though I do look back on the art of boost-hopping fondly and my old parry blades (and solid shields), the control that mastering quick boosts afford you for evasive tactics and missile defense is just too much fun.

One thing I do -NOT- miss were those long-winded winding tunnel missions where if you missed killing a single small organism/MT/ect., you had to go all the way back and search for it.

One thing I do miss, however, were those fully functional 3D maps that you'd get when you had the best head parts in the original AC games. I used to have fun scanning the map while listening to that blaring techno in the first game, although I have to admit that For Answer has the best soundtrack I've heard yet in regards to AC. I love the new age of strings in Armored Core.

Now I wait for this and for the new Front Mission. It'll be a good year for the robots.

The thing I missed the most, and that was severely lacking in AC:4A, were those epic and massive marathon missions where enemies of all types would just keep coming at you from every direction to the point where you'd have to resupply at least twice in a fight just to get through them all. The current gen ACs had some real short missions, to the point where they could literally end in a single shot. But back in AC2:AA and some of the fights in Silent Line, the missions were just pure epic.

I remember one mission in particular where you were sent to clear out some MTs at some missile base. You get there and things start off simple enough, but a minute in you get a warning that some orbital satellite was gonna start blasting the field so as you're fighting giant beams of light come crashing down all over the place. Then you get a warning that some super MTs were on their way to the battle zone with reinforcements. So you'd be fighting these super MTs, an army of normal MTs, a bunch of choppers and dodging these giant space lasers all at the same time. And if you really wanted to push your luck, there was a hidden part on the base you could try and pick up. It was an overall epic fight.

Yea, some of the AFs in 4A were impressive, yea Mother Will was massive and getting to it was kinda cool. But actually fighting it was really simple, just had to focus on the missile launchers and you'd be all set. Even the hard mode fight wasn't that tough, I mean the AC they send at you was the weakest in the arena and if you fought him under the fort the guns and missiles couldn't even touch you. I would've loved to be able to have to blast my way inside, work through it's guts, blew out it's main systems and had to boost my ass out of there before the entire thing went up.

First of all, those Motherwill missile launchers were a bitch. I agree with you, to an extent, though. Many of the missions in 4A are very short - they only stretch out if you want to fight your opponents one on one, like with the Occupation of Arteria mission.

I think part of it is simply that From Software didn't know how to fully utilize the next gen engines at all. You look at the graphical style of both AC4 games compared to past games: its barren. The backgrounds and fighting areas are very barren, and I know that lore-wise, it makes sense, but where are the dense forested areas full of snipers that I have to roll through with a partner? Where is the huge base full of missile and cannon installations that I have to take out before heading inside. I do miss a bit of that, and hopefully it'll come back for the 5th.

One thing I am happy about in the new generation though is the focus on partners. I've always loved consorts, even when they were simply a few heavy-class MTs that rolled around in figure-fours, and I was pleased to see that I got to tag-team with a few good Nexts, even if the battles were scripted like with and against White Glint. I can kill Glint so fast on Hard that he revives and glitch dies a second time, then OBs out of the water to start the CS with Otsdarva.

I'm still waiting to see a full-on Lynx War mission where it's just 10 vs 10 or something, or an online storyline mode where teams of two engage in storyline missions from opposite sides. Something like the Orca fight on Big Box, but online, or the Attack or Defense of the Anti-Satellite Batteries. Split it up for a 5 on 5 team match or something.

Who knows, though. All I know is that the next game better have a crisp framerate and at least X8 AA. I'm tired of seeing jaggies on consoles - if companies can't produce a decent anti-aliasing on a console, then port that shit to PC and let me play it there. The PC version of Street Fighter 4 completely took steaming shits all over the console versions in that respect.

The AC4 control scheme kind of agitated me as someone who played the older ones. Sure, I'd try to recreate it by editing controls, but in the end it never quite did get the same.

Overall, I'd like to believe my reflexes aren't terrible, but there's something about fighting enemy ACs that just seems unnatural compared to human foes. They just feel far too quick and jerky while also being surprisingly accurate. Most of the time a human is giving up some aspect of overall control in either focusing on offense or defense. Then again, I also felt like my preferred builds got nerfed into oblivion (I was someone that'd make a speedy AC with nothing more than the Karasawa and Moonlite for weapons) on top of being paper thin on defense while totally now being unable to avoid giant missile barrages even if you try to work against their flight pathing.

Three days? No, two. Developer From Software's online reveal of Armored Core 5 is scheduled for 1.14. It's leaked reveal from Japanese magazine is scheduled for today.

    Hello blurry magazine scans!

According to the Famitsu article, the game's concept is "mayhem" mechanical action. The game will feature new weapons, more robust and dramatic mission stories and stages that are more detailed and complex than the previous titles.

AC5 will feature smaller mecha as well — instead of being 10 meters, the AC mecha's scale is 5 meters in this upcoming installment.

The game is heading to the PS3 and the Xbox 360. Development of Armored Core 5 is 20 percent

@arus2001: If you think ACs are fast in-game, you should play online against the lahire-spamming Japanese. After getting SS rank, it was a whole new ballgame going online, much to the point that now every 1 on 1 fight against CPU Nexts is somewhat of a joke.

If you like light ACs, throw on Lahire arms for high speed, mobility, and aim. If you like heavy ACs, throw on Hilbert arms for the same in a bulky frame. Chuck on the 600 lock speed FCS, then tweak it to 1000 through AMS, and throw on a spread bazooka + slug gun. Learn to dance and you'll have anyone in the game reduced to sparkling scrap in under 20 seconds. After playing online and adjusting to the speed and tactics of those annr51-wielding top players, facing White Glint and Otsdarva feels like a spring breeze.

At first the launchers were a nightmare, and the biggest threat. But I eventually got so used to em that I could dodge their shots with even heavy weight tanks. But yea, a lot of the longest feeling missions were the AC fights, and mainly because those guys could be complete asses.

I was never too big on partners though, was always more of a lone wolf type. But the co-op option was great. However those short missions didn't really lend themselves well to having two competent players goin at the same time because there wasn't much to do. The next game needs some MASSIVE fights to go along with co-op. And a better defined MP with bigger game options would be awesome. With 4A, I think you could have some 4 on 4 battles, but unless you had friends with the game you'd probably be waiting forever to get into one.

That reminds me. In everyone's opinion, which was the true ending in AC:4A? I'm sure we can all agree that the Old King path isn't canon, so it'd come down to Collard's path and ORCA's path.

In the Collard path, Wynne basically calls out Thermador as Ostdarva, giving credence to her earlier comments that "something stinks" after the golden boy faked his death. The cradles are protected, Collard's strongest Nexts remain alive, and all the corruption is covered up, even if Wynne broke away from Collard.

In ORCA's path, the protagonist is the last remaining member of ORCA after Otsdava shows his true colors as a sellout to Omer, and most all of collard's top Lynx are killed, including the top independent merc. The cradles come crashing down, and mankind is set up to head to space, although they don't say whether or not those cradles killed the 100 million living within them when they hit the surface.

I'll assume that collard's path is the true path, unless we see AC5 taking place in outer space. Both other endings pretty much result in your character being the last man standing out of most all Lynx, which wouldn't make for much of a next game unless your character hit Nineball status or something and became legendary.

    What do you think?

Since there's never going to be a true sequel to AC4, at this point whatever path you prefer is the "true" ending. AC5 will most likely follow all the other AC game's path of creating a whole new storyline and world. Though there may be some loose, slightly hinted at ties to previous games, but canon wise, it'll be a new AC universe.

I'm gonna miss Dario's arrogance and Roy's apathy. I think they did a great job in AC4A with personality types - its a shame there weren't more missions to work with/against the Lynx, because guys like Roadie sounded like a good time even though you can only fight with/against him once.

Time to dig this up again

    http://gamingreloaded.blogspot.com/2...id-someone.htm

New details on Chrome....I mean Armored Core 5 have surfaced.

    - Bandai Namco Games is publishing this outside of Japan.

    - The gameplay will involve the player forming teams with other players and fighting it out online.

    - The objective in the game is territorial conquest.

    - The My Garage system allows you to upgrade you mechs.

    - The mech part designs are brand new.

    - The main component of the game is online play.

    - The online play here is different from normal online multiplayer because it has no separate modes. By being a single seamless online mode, it makes it much easier for players to get online and start playing.

    - There is a single player option.

    - The main objective of the game is for your team to capture the territory of another team.

    - You can set up defenses in your territories beforehand. If no players are online in a team, the defenses become the enemies for other players trying to take it.

    - Teams are made up of 5 players. In combat there will be 4 players controlling mechs, while the remaining player serves as the commander and operator for the team.

    - There will be something similar to Overweapons from AC4.

    - There is a huge amount of content in the game.

    - Release date is 2011.
