Fucking hell, TAKE MY MONEY.
I like that when they said "downsizing", they simply meant the total size, not the amount of detail or the number of attachments. I like the smaller size, because it's going to allow for more hide and seek play when rolling through urban environments. I still hope they allow for lots of flights.
D; going to have to get this game.
To this day, IMO, the best Mech game ever still stands to be Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries
Mechwarrior 4 was fantastic as well, though I fell for AC right from the start. Making it faster with OB just made me even happier as it started to get its own feel away from slower mech games, while not being campy and sword-crazy like the Gundam series.
Just take my damned money already.
Just remember one time I ended up making a Mech in MW2:M that had about 12 Clan Medium Pulse lasers on a Kodiak. I was actually able to configure it with enough heat sinks that I got 0 heat and was able to destroy Atlas in about 3 seconds.
It was all about dumping as much LBX autocannon on a Cauldron Born as you could. God, the memories.

Armored Core V dated, E3 trailer released
NA release is still aimed towards early 2012.From Software announced a final release date of October 20 for Armored Core V today. Both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will cost ¥7,800.
What's the original story behind Armored Core?
Wasn't a whole hell of a lot of one. Sort of a post-apocalyptic world, hinted at being caused by man's greed and lust for power. I forget if they stayed on Earth or colonized Mars, but various corporations basically pulled the strings, all trying to build the better mech or other weapon/defense. The players took on the role of a Raven, which is basically a merc that pilots the Armored Cores. You do missions, you get hints of story here and there, and in the old games there was a sort of faction affiliation where taking more missions from side could prevent you from doing others, but usually beating the game would unlock everything. In a nutshell, you're eventually out to save the world.
Needless to say, story was never an AC strength.
That's pretty much it. Its usually the same base origins: mankind sucks and does nothing but wage war and step on the little guy and constantly burns through the planet's resources while polluting it like crazy. Typically this results in either everyone having to live underground, in some secluded area above ground, or WAY above ground in the sky. Sometimes its about trying to get off the planet, other times its about blowing up some secret lost-age weapon that's way too strong, and other times its simply about being the strongest in an area after blowing up every other AC out there.
You're always a merc that answers to whoever pays you the best or whoever you personally like, but eventually in each game your main contracts stop and you have to follow a set plot at the end, with strange, cryptic endings. The game is more about the fight than the plot, clearly, although recent ones have tried to incorporate the plot a bit better.
Saw some of the gameplay and for the first time ever I am unsure about an Armored Core game. I really don't like how the AC is located on the side of the screen, the movement looks really cheesy and even though I haven't been a fan of missle past AC2(I feel they got way less effective in 3 and 4) they move very slow which means they will again be less effective imo. I do like how they brought back the target box though I missed that from the older AC games.
Got a link for the gameplay?
Didn't notice it either, was posted back in May.
And so on.

Armored Core V beta coming soon to Japan
Invites went out from From Software to Japanese gamers today for the beta for upcoming title Armored Core V. According to The Daily DL, this beta will give a taste of the final product, offering team play, story missions, customization of mechs and a look at the new Mercenary System.
There's actually two betas for AC5 running through the month of July. The first is for PS3 folks (July 1-14), and the next is for the Xbox 360 kids (July 18 through August 1). Japanese gamers will get the finished game a couple of months later, on October 20th. Us? You'll have to wait a bit, I'm sure.
It's TBA 2012 for NA/EU still.

Armored Core V Delayed to January
From Software wants to implement changes based off tester reaction.
From Software announced today that it has delayed Armored Core V from its original release date of October 20. The game will now arrive in January.
As reason for the delay, the company said that it received feedback from beta testers and wanted to brush up the product based off this.
My money is still waiting to be taken. Would be nice to see a PC release, though, to see what the mecha genre can really do when not bound by the shitty limitations of paltry consoles.
